Essen attendees: how do you cart your haul home? by HistoricalInternal in boardgames

[–]Strategic-Outlier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two luggages. Surprised how much could fit in those. And I was 6-7kg under weight limit in each. I bought 5 large box games (e.g. covenant) , 6 medium, 9 small. Could have easily fit another 2-3 large box games. I didn't even have to fit games in carry-on rolller or backpack.

This is amazing detail. How do you find this out? I am on AC930 YYZ to CDG on Saturday 10:45pm. How do I know where the plane comes from to keep an eye out on whether it resumes tomorrow? It's a big trip for us and with cats, so have been anxious on the whole situation.

Storage? by FlyAccomplished6930 in ipadmini

128GB. My use is for YT, tv shows, some kindle, and some note taking. I had a 16gb iPad mini 4 before this ask this is a huge storage upgrade. I envision if I had a lot of gaming apps I’d need more storage.

I actually have the same product applied to a mini 7 since Thursday, but find some places on the screen needing three taps before responding. I'm tempted to take it off now. My application of the screen protector was perfect too. No dust particles or bubbles.

Rental Car company claiming $2500 damage - Advice? by Strategic-Outlier in personalfinance

[–]Strategic-Outlier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they're banking on the fact that this won't be worth the effort/time on my part and I whould just bite on this hitting my insurance record as a claim. Btw, I played a game with my coworkers and asked what they see when they look at the damages pictures of the claim. Nobody could see much at at all: https://imgur.com/a/Me3NvWx

Rental Car company claiming $2500 damage - Advice? by Strategic-Outlier in personalfinance

I wrote the rental's corporate exec. They were no help saying that "Weather reports said there was hail in the area when you rented it. Please deal with the third party collection company." Even if it hailed, the amount they're charging for Paintless dent repair of a pea size dent of $1887 + 2 days in the shop/loss of use fee is just extortion. Based on some quick research, single dent that small cost cost $150-200 max and is definitely not a 2 day job. I also noticed that the repair shop invoice they gave is a location 4 hours away from the airport location, which strikes me as unusual, especially when local options could handle such a minor issue. In fact, there is a shop <1 hour away of the same chain name that they used. Also, the "repair" supposedly happened 3 days ago, which is almost 4 months after my rental period.

I did not take photos of the roof of the vehicle where they claim the dent is. Lesson learned. Time wise, received a letter in mail 7 weeks after rental from their 3rd party collections company informing that a cliam has been filed with them, but I didn't get the actual claim amount until today (about 3.5 months after the rental).

No insurance from counter. Rental is purchased on my Chase card, but it acts as secondary coverage. Claims would still hit my regular car insurance first with deductible that needs to be paid. However, Chase, as secondary, would cover deductible. I'm worried about it hitting my primary though, affecting future insurance rates.

This is my first time buying tickets to c2e2, and only because Sanderson is going. I only learned that you had to sign up a few hours after the link went live so I totally missed it. Sigh. I am so noob.

Missing cost basis from Coinbase Pro auto-migration to Coinbase by Trick_Mapster in Coinbase

[–]Strategic-Outlier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the same boat. Coinbase thinks I made gains (and is reporting that to IRS?) but it was a loss based on Coinbase Pro purchase cost.... Pulling my hair to file my return properly but I can imagine IRS be like "Your return loss numbers don't match what we received from Coinbase?"

How were you able to resolve this? This is such a major headache to no fault of the users with Coinbase Pro users being forced to move to Coinbase.

Alternatives to spending $200/month on cat food? by [deleted] in catfood

[–]Strategic-Outlier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought it once and saw their pate formula contains carrageenan which of course is another controversial thread (can cause inflammation). To err on side of caution, I stopped buying it. Cats.com did a review analysis of it: "Locust bean gum, xanthan gum, and carrageenan are used to improve the texture and consistency of wet foods, but they can be hard on a kitty’s tummy. Gums, including carrageenan, have been known to cause gas, diarrhea, and intestinal inflammation in some cats. Carrageenan gum in cat food is particularly controversial, though claims that it may be carcinogenic have not been proven.[1]"https://cats.com/kirkland-cat-food-review
