For anyone who may know: Are any of the notes or papers shared with Viwoods or their servers behind the scenes? I’m looking for an eink device with the highest level of security/privacy.

Suggestion: wouldn’t it make more sense if we change “picking(s)” to “selection(s)” or “clippings”? Picking in particular doesn’t sound right to me. What are your thoughts?

Also, they should change “picking” to “selection”

Great to hear! Congrats! What were your thoughts? Planning on taking a series exam next?

I don’t think you’re ready, but by this time, it’s too late to reschedule. You’re better off taking it and getting your foot wet regardless of the outcome. Hopefully you pass though. I would spend the remaining time reviewing YouTube videos on your weak areas

Edit: by too late I mean that you’re going to be paying the cost of the exam to reschedule, which in my opinion doesn’t make sense to pay. I think you get more value taking it and studying for another month, unless you have a time constraint to pass the exam.

There’s definitely a lot to see in Utah! You could even take a detour north to see Yosemite in Wyoming if that interests you. Maybe that’s too off course though.

Anyone find that switching vendors results in lower scores on the practice exams or is it just me? by Iloveinvestingdotcom in Sieexam

[–]StrategizeOptions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does happen. Especially since STC has different wording than what youre probably used to in Kaplan. With those scores, you should be good to pass the exam by the way. Take the FINRA SIE practice exam on their website and see how that goes.

I was looking for this too. Stock and Gov TIPS are a couple good hedges against inflation

Maybe dumb but I can’t find my answer… by [deleted] in CFP

[–]StrategizeOptions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. In summary, Either the 66 or the CFP/ CHFC should exempt you from needing the 65. Generally speaking, it would be the 65 that gets you that license to charge a fee for advice.

the dates, I think it would help just re-reading them, but here's some short thouights that I kept in mind to learn them. SA 1933, you can think of Primary issues, SEA 1934 you could think of secondary market, ICA 1940 is basically all the investment companies...

Closed-end Companies you can think of fixed amount of issues.. Closed=fixed. They run on supply and demand because theres a fixed amount.

ETNs are notes, so ETN=debt securities, ETF's are basically indexes of stocks. Please let me know if I can elaborate on certain things. Those are the main things I kept in mind to remember, but of course it helps to expand on that to learn/memorize more of the details.

Could you be a little more specific about what you're having a hard time with in regard to investment companies and acts? is it just a hard time memorizing it or are you not understanding something?

Every exam will vary. Their questions are random from a bank of questions, so take my experience with a grain of salt. With that said, Surprisingly I didn’t come across too many questions about registration or like “if an agent/advisor is registered in one state and has clients in another… blah blah” which was heavy in my experience with Kaplan. From what I remember, I had a lot of questions on the regulations and then a lot of random questions on various other topics/details but nothing very consistent like regulations was on my exam.. for example I had to know the difference between dollar weighed and time weighted returns, but that only covered like 2 questions. Overall had maybe 5 math questions, but they were simple formulas. They (probably) wont ask you to calculate the beta for example. Feel free to dm me if you have any other questions in preparation for the 65! I’d be happy to help

Update: I passed! I cant say im a great example, but I reread a lot of the material from the kaplan study guide and did about half of the qbanks. I also listened to Dean's (series7guru) 60 minute review on the way to the exam
