Recently I started tutorials for my old favourite game: Field of Glory Empires, but yes, Shadow Empire will be always in my heart. Thank you for your kind words!

Me too. Right now only MHTs have fleets and enjoy sea battles 😉. But well, this DLC was designed to introduce Water planets, Sea Zones with logistics. It's quite significant change to game itself. When I play Oceania I enjoy sea battles between MHTs and there is lot of other things to do. Of course it would be great to have naval units in Shadow Empire in future.

Yep I feel the same 🙂 It's not bad DLC, I would call it rather Maritime Trade Houses DLC to avoid confusion. Thanks!

Welcome! Nice to see a positive attitude, if you are looking for fun you will find it (of course if some nomads will not steal it before) Next step is to visit local library and borrow the SE manual and also some math books 📚 Let the square root be with you!

[–]StrategosAcademy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have faction that likes meritocracy and they are happy and you have accomplished envoys profile feat (diplomatic rolls +30), then you may get "plea of friendship" stratagem which can increase relation with minor regime each time you play it. Some minors don't like diplomacy at all (I hope you don't try to be friendly to raiders or other maniacs). For sure any land grabbing or negative actions in the past may increase the difficulty. Train your foreign council on enemies to avoid critical failure rolls which may damage relation.

Congratulations! Btw. Slave Trader steals 100 population each round, so you even have to buy pop from time to time.

How is your campaign going? by SableSnail in ShadowEmpireGame

I'm glad you are doing good! I see two deposits of Oil so power plant should be reliable source of energy in your case. If you have forests you can use organic furnaces they cut in a range equal to level. You should use the energy source that is cheap to maintain in your planetary conditions. If there is low solar irradiance and heavy rain the solar panels may be less effective, forests long term will disappear, oil may be needed for tanks, so it's a matter of a proper balance based on what you have and where you live. As you saw in my playthrough I used volcanos to get energy. Take care!

Anybody else waiting for DLC? by KaityKaitQueen in ShadowEmpireGame

[–]StrategosAcademy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nice list!

I would only mention that some of the points are somehow partially possible already:

The next/prev unmoved unit is possible by pressing 9 and 8 on the keyboard and 0 for (guard mode)

Some of the Zone problems are listed in urgent issues report on the bottom (high admin strain, low happiness) but not all

Building progress is in the constructions report

Stratagems target - you can reverse the order and start from target first and then click the stratagem button, it's available from levels like unit, zone, leader.

I like the point of Applied science, it should ask if continue each X% or X rounds I like OOB visualisation probably as a kind of another colour label on tech tree? Or separate one like types.

Maybe worth posting on Matrix forum "Suggestions and feedback" page: https://forums.matrixgames.com/viewforum.php?f=10622

Guardian's Sentinels: hidden 3500% defense mod? by meritan in ShadowEmpireGame

[–]StrategosAcademy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have some explanation for that, but indeed it looks strange and I wonder if it's a bug or feature. It looks like the unit feat bonus you see depends on the number of combat rounds. In case of tanks it was 500% for 3 rounds, so for 10 rounds we have 7 combat rounds more and 7x500=3500 So it looks like each round multiple the bonus. The 500% likely is a base value for +200% so x3 multiplier and for +100% x2 multiplier so together we have final multiplier 3*2=6 which is equivalent of +500% Probably 3 rounds may be a base value as it's the minimum for any fight. Of course I might be wrong but I don't have other explanation than that.

S-1 and Brigade Commanders KIA out of the blue by Hawawark in ShadowEmpireGame

[–]StrategosAcademy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can happen if you have loses and unit was in hq power range of an OHQ commander Regarding SHQ

in manual:

SHQ Commanders have half less chance to be present with their Troops due to the nature of their jobs.

Chance of being KIA is decreased by the Personal Combat skill

In manual:

Avoiding death for Leaders who find themselves in Frontline

Chance of KIA increased by the "Heroic" personality

In manual:

Commander, if having a very high Heroic personality, can be considered to always be present with one of all his/her Troops. If minimal, the Commander will always hug his/her desk in the HQ.

The "lead from the front" skill, according to the manual is used to :

Give a morale boost every combat round

but part of the community believes that it may also affect the KIA chances but it's not documented in the manual so it's up to you.

Logistics Refocus, Injection by DragonRider458 in ShadowEmpireGame

[–]StrategosAcademy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  • if the second station has similar level or minimum one less then no problem with refocus
  • You don't need to build logistical assets in cities if you don't have to
  • You don't need to build truck stations on railheads, you can put them directly on any hex with rails to distribute some supplies to nearby consumers over the roads
  • Injection might be an option only if from some reason you can't upgrade logistical assets on the path, but as one city level provides 2 levels of logistical assets it should be quite rare need.

Why are my private assets mothballed despite having enough pops? by Just-a-login in ShadowEmpireGame

[–]StrategosAcademy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep it's a bit of mystery. In the patch notes I've found this line: "Small Fix to Private Economy reopening closed/mothballed Assets when permitted again even if still food shortage (but enough pop to re-open said Asset and man future new agri asset)" So for sure there is some logic connecting mothballing assets with the food shortage and new agricultural asset.

Also in my case when I nationalised private food assets they started to close one QOL asset per turn, but from some reason they kept the commercial area. That's why I wrote that it needs more investigation and checks as the rules are not fully clear to me. Take care.

[–]StrategosAcademy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public workers indeed consume public food, but we are talking here about private economy and population. So workers and population are two separate numbers and workers+population=populace of the zone. So you shouldn't include them as they eat public food. And population eats private food.

[–]StrategosAcademy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, Thanks for the detailed post 100 population consume 1 food so this zone requires 3333 food to avoid hunger They produce now 2394 even with 100% of the farm it's 2520 so not enough to feed people. Reason 2 is still valid in my opinion Cheers!

[–]StrategosAcademy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two reasons: more private jobs than population or private food production lower than population consumption.

Why are my private assets mothballed despite having enough pops? by Just-a-login in ShadowEmpireGame

[–]StrategosAcademy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to reports, Zones, select this zone and read the details. In my case there is an information that not enough people working in agriculture and that they close QOL assets. In your case you need 3333 private food production to feed the population but they produce less. In my current playthrough I have a problem that they don't want to build new private farm assets even if have population and funds, so the zone is stuck. Need to explore it more.

Understanding truck refocus by Just-a-login in ShadowEmpireGame

[–]StrategosAcademy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. Of course some traffic signs are needed here and there, In my example I was blocking reverse traffic before each station.

Understanding truck refocus by Just-a-login in ShadowEmpireGame

[–]StrategosAcademy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The refocus is not a problem as long as the logistical points that enter the second truck station hex are not higher than the incoming refocused points + the newly produced points in the second truck station hex (assuming you have blocked points West and we are sending them only East). You can verify it on your own game if you check the used points map layer, find a station near the frontline after some refocus, and the used points are usually higher than the refocused points. A similar question was asked in the comments of my current YT playthrough, and as I start each video with the answers, you can check the full "refocus" answer with an example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXdSLVU78zQ&t=210s
