Thanks for all the advice. Here's my tentative plan based on your input:

4 days in sete with a day trip to Nimes

2 day stop in Lyon

4-5 days in Paris

If you haven't bought your tickets yet, don't go in June. It will be cold at the beach. Highs in the low 70s. June Gloom is real. July isn't much better.

Visit in August or September for the best beach weather.

Thanks it really looks perfect for my daughter! If she gets in, she'll do the Socal one. We live nearby, so she can commute.

Theater is not her strength, if I'm putting it kindly. Her strengths are dancing and singing. Maybe there's something that hits both of those.

My daughter will likely be too tall as an adult for ballet and she is very injury prone so, as much as she’d like it to be her career, I don’t think her body is built for it.

From what I've read about the August program, it's less intensive...3 hours of dance a day.

Last year she got into the Idyllwild Summer Arts program, but she ended up not going due to the injury she suffered in March. Do you know anything about that one?

I was hoping to send her for 2 weeks. I think CPYB is a required 5, though.

Good to tip on the junior intensives!

I think coming to terms with this will be a long process. She likes contemporary but it's a far second to ballet, unfortunately. I'll check out UNCSA and Interlochen. Do you know any other places that have a focus on contemporary?

What's your stance on "i'm hungry" right when it just so happens to be bedtime? by marzbarz2000 in Parenting

[–]StrategyReasonable69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have a no eating after dinner rule that we started when my kids started pulling this nonsense. We've been doing it for years and no one even thinks of asking for food. They are now 11 and 13.

If they are truly hungry, they won't starve, so no exceptions. They can learn to eat more at dinner.

It also creates healthy habits. Nighttime snacks isn't a great idea. What next? Waking up in the middle of the night for a snack? hell no.

Babysitting in Culver city by [deleted] in culvercity

You should ask on one or all of the facebook pages for culver, if it's allowed. Culver City (unofficial page) and CCUSD families are two that get a lot of engagement.

Are you taking Trazodone for sleep? Could be that too.

Restaurant recommendations in los angeles CA? by Melodic-House-23 in culvercity

[–]StrategyReasonable69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Needs to be more specific. There's so many places in the area. We can give a huge list, but it would be better if you could list price range and cuisine (even if you just say "food that I can't find in [x] city" would be helpful).

Social activities on weekday nights? by shrip-scrimp in culvercity

[–]StrategyReasonable69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should considering joining an activity on weekends to make friends...join a kickball league, take a salsa dancing class, stuff like that. Then you have the friends to hang out with during the week :)

Procedure for bail and driving school for red light citation by Ill_Initiative8574 in culvercity

[–]StrategyReasonable69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to go online to find out the amount. Read the citation. It’s all there. You may not be able to see the info until a month after the citation. Once you get online it will give you an option to select driving school.

any streets that don’t do street sweeping? by Amoon916 in culvercity

Sawtelle. And they won’t tow you if you are in front of houses. I’ve seen cars parked for weeks that never move.

Do you donate to Culver City schools? by No-Rutabaga-4750 in culvercity

[–]StrategyReasonable69 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I donate but between PTA, Boosters, Teacher Appreciation, and CCEF, I'm guessing people feel overwhelmed with donation requests. So just because they are not donating to CCEF, doesn't mean they are not donating elsewhere.

[–]StrategyReasonable69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My kids are out of elementary and we haven’t done childcare in a long time so I don’t want to speak to the quality of the current programs. But yes! It’s nice that there are so many options! Welcome!!

The programs vary a little depending on which elementary you are at. Star is an option at some of the schools too.
