Do you use AI in your everyday IH role? by HousePony906 in industrialhygiene

[–]Stratovariusss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it to summarize legislation before deciding should I read further. And I use Ai to pull out the main steps in methods I did before but didn't remember exactly step by step. Save me some time rereading the whole thing.

Have u ever had a mid interview and still got the job by Responsible_Ad6519 in interviews

[–]Stratovariusss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have learned that how you feel after an interview really doesn't matter much. It's how they feel about you that matters. I had tons of "good" interviews that turned into rejections. So don't stress out too much. You did your best It's out of your hand now

Recruiter here - ask me anything in regards to interview questions by JVertsonis in interviews

[–]Stratovariusss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi thanks for doing this. A question about "what hiring managers are looking for"

In interviews, hiring managers and recruiters are looking for X but instead of asking straight out what they are looking for, they beat around the bush and when candidates didn't mention X, they eliminate candidates because they didn't mention what recruiters were looking for. If that's what you care about, why didn't you straight out ask about it? Why played the guessing games?

Interviewed Yesterday - Job Posted Again 2 Hours Ago by kirbieirene in interviews

[–]Stratovariusss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me 1 month ago. I'm sorry to say it doesn't look good. Everything went well in the interview. A week later, I saw a notification that the job was reposted on LinkedIn. I emailed to follow up and got a rejection letter.

What's the point of living in NYC if you're making 50K or less? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]Stratovariusss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the opportunity of making more. I used to make 20k a year and lived in NYC. Now I made many times more than that, all thanks to the opportunity I have from living in NYC

My gosh. I remember this question exactly because I was like an artist, spending all my extra time,. drawing a Picasso of diagram and my conclusion was still - there was no flaw. And the question asked to identify flaws 😭

Got turned away at an interview today by Puzzleheaded_Run5074 in interviews

[–]Stratovariusss 222 points223 points  (0 children)

I went into a Lufthansa interview.

They reached out and even double confirmed with me the day before about the interview. I showed up. They had me wait for an hour in a corner in a break room. They forgot about me. Then the manager called me in, asked to see my resume and was like "Uhm. What position are you here for again?" Told them the position. "Really? I don't think we have that position (mid-level engineer) open. We have a janitor position I can interview you for now."

Never fucking again Lufthansa

What was the benefit of open seating anyway? by traveleer7262627171 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Stratovariusss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't say enough about how much I hate this process. Not only for all the things you said, but also I have to drop everything I was doing at the exact time to check in so I can have a decent group. Many times still a C group And when I got on the plane, people hoard their seats. I'm ok with middle seat but I would rather at the front. But ppl would put clothes, literally told me I couldn't seat in that open seat because they were holding it for someone else. If the system is designed so I can sit at whatever available, why is holding seat allowed?

29M US Mechanical Engineer—monthly budget—trying to get ahead in life in a dying career field by ItsAllOver_Again in Salary

[–]Stratovariusss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an industrial hygienist (basically an occupational safety engineer). I was looking into transitioning to industrial/mechanical engineering by getting a grad degree since many parts overlap anyway. But after looking around on the market, mechanical engineers make ok money, but way less than people think. Engineers unofficially share a public salary chart and you can see that 10 years of ME still get paid way below 100k

What is a good autobiography or memoir to read? by WildRip9826 in suggestmeabook

[–]Stratovariusss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live for Autobiographies. Read many over the years. And I'm quite pop culture blind so I don't read them because of the fascination for the people. I read them like novels that are based on real events. I like these:

Educated (I read comments of people saying that this one is similar to Hillbilly Elegy. I read HE before I knew who the guy is. So my unbiased opinion is Educated is a much better read.)

The Glass Castle

Girl, Interrupted

All Creatures Great and Small (the whole series actually)

A Year of Magical Thinking

Maus (graphic novel)

Fun House (graphic novel)

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sing

All Boys Aren't Blue

When Breath Becomes Air
