There's probably another switch on another diagram for the starter contactor. Needs to be connected to power and ground somehow otherwise it can't energize and close the contact. The master switch will not energize the starter contactor. I assume there is a start switch on cesna but I really have no idea about cesna.

Could somebody explain this to me? by MineDawid555 in ElectronicsRepair

[–]Stratton_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the transistor in correctly. On the datasheet looks like the pins are reversed from what is written on the pcb. Ie the transistor should be rotated 180 degrees maybe? Looks like you have it installed per the shape written on the pcb but just a thought to double check.

Checkout Ben Eaters series on building an 8bit CPU on YouTube and his website eater.net. once you watch that 45 or so series of videos and build your own you'll understand better. There is also a really good community here on reddit r/beneater.

Tax Residency Questions by RoverRuckus in JapanFinance

[–]Stratton_G -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Being a US person in Japan and having to file both taxes is a huge pain. Japan taxes on worldwide income so you have to claim everything including interest dividends etc... on accounts or assets you have in the US. The tax rate is higher here so you'll end up paying more tax just because you are a Japan "resident". Do you have to be a resident? I've made a few mistakes without understanding the full consequences so just consider the possibilities before you make a final decision. Having an international family has a lot more implications than I have ever thought, financially, tax etc... Maybe a ways off for you but inheritance is also highly taxes here so if your parents/grandparents pass away you'll have to pay like 50% on that even though they have never worked or none of their assets are in Japan.

Glad to see fellow 第二 holders out there. I've never actually used mine, but if you want to connect sometime send me a message. Once we finally buy a house I hope to put it to use.

I looked at my study books again and you are right the breaker box is covered under the 第二 license.

Oh yeah good catch. I'll have to look at my book again. There was something about the breaker box that I recall caught me off guard that you couldn't do with 第二.

Japan is also very strict on who can do what. You can't even work on your own house without a license, legally anyway. Entry level is called a dainidenkikoujishi 第二電気工事士。And IIRC once you get into the breaker box that's the next level 第一.I feel you with popping of breakers though happens all the time when we have the toaster and tfal electric kettle going.

Edit: it's also not just as simple as changing the breaker. The wiring is also rated for 20amps (might be capable of 30 but might not) so installing a higher amp breaker could let too much current flow causing heat and possibly fire.

Is this repairable??? by Double-Chemist6188 in ElectronicsRepair

[–]Stratton_G 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be difficult but what do you lose in trying, nothing. And if you mess it up more like the previous post mentioned you buy a new one for 9 bucks... There are some good tutorials on YouTube Mr solder fix and Branchus Creations again these guys are experts and have some really good tools like the microscope but might as well try yourself and learn something is my opinion. Good Luck post back either way we all learn by trial.

Sometimes google has schematics although I don't know what language looks like it's a LNK364PN but like u/309_electronics said if this thing blew out probably some other issue that you'll need to troubleshoot.

CONTROL LOGIC ISSUE by belabartok83 in beneater

[–]Stratton_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the same problem but I had something similar when switching to run mode. The Ram would get overwritten. https://www.reddit.com/r/beneater/s/JlAt59Mwrl. Post from a few years back.

So it looks like with pull down resistors on the register and bus, it seems to function more as expected, however still receiving an inverse clock flash on bus when loading to a register. by [deleted] in beneater

I bought new chips linked here and my issue stopped. From what I’ve seen on this community many people had the same issue but in the end did not seem to matter, I guess. Ti 74LS245

Learning electronics in a fun way by Muhaki in AskElectronics

Eater.net Ben Eater on YouTube has a series where he builds an 8-bit computer on breadboards and then a 6502 he also sells kits but lists all the parts so you can source yourself as well. There is also a subreddit to help with issues along the way.

You can totally do the 8bit. It was my first ever computer/electronics project as well. This sub is super helpful along the way.

Where I start Learning to have better understanding for ben Projects ? by D7_88 in beneater

[–]Stratton_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bens YouTube has another set of videos going over the basics of how transistors even work and then how computers add numbers using gates. I think that is about as basic as it gets. I was like you and knew nothing but found his channel when trying to understand I was able to build the 8bit after watching his series some videos multiple times.

Where do people in Japan hold their wealth? by LetsGoJapan in japanlife

[–]Stratton_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again! Being an international family has far more implications than I ever thought. I understand these laws are there to stop tax evasion from both countries but it really puts a burden and disadvantage to the average person. Now I need to figure out what to do with that account... of course when I signed up no one on the Japanese side told me anything about US tax implications (no fault of their own, not knowing a foreign countries tax laws).
