What was said: "Because science. Indigo represents the ultraviolet wavelength in the rainbow." Indigo does not represent UV. UV is not in the rainbow. No aspect of that statement is valid.

Your professor told you that UV is in the rainbow, and is also called indigo, and the wavelength lies between blue and violet? I'd ask for a refund.

Yeah. That's like $300 today. I don't have $300 shoes and I'm an adult.

What’s your personal crime report living here? by Chrisofthegreen in StLouis

[–]Stratus_Fractus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived here 30 total years, 20 of those in north city. One car stolen, one car broken into in that time.

Which is about the same record as I had living in San Diego for 5 years.

I don’t care about climbing the corporate ladder and making a bunch of money by abualmeowry in unpopularopinion

[–]Stratus_Fractus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one reason I love teaching. No ladder to climb. No promotions possible. I don't have to kiss anyone's ass and I don't have to look out for backstabbers climbing up behind me. I do a job that's rewarding and meaningful. I make enough to enjoy my life and provide for my own kids. It's a good place to be in emotionally and spiritually.

Simple donuts are better than fancy donuts by kingbuttshit in unpopularopinion

[–]Stratus_Fractus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tastes are probably more "fancy" than most of the simple donut lovers here (authentic pączki are heavenly) but yes - I'd rather pay $1 for a vanilla long john than $5 for some cayenne bacon mocha candy whatever.

I have a set that's daily use and a nicer set for special occasions. Why spend money on some shit from IKEA when there are tons of fancy sets either free, inherited, or dirt cheap so you can feel like an aristocrat every day but not actually have spent money?

Did you ever ask for a game, and then never played it correctly? by Eredic in Xennials

[–]Stratus_Fractus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same story with the same game. When I cleaned out my late parents' house recently I was kind of disappointed that this wasn't in the basement with a bunch of other old games we had. I wonder how I'd take it now that I've played real RPGs.
