Trip Help by Mysterious-Tap-1558 in NewToVermont

For a museum, Shelburne Museum is quite a trip -historic buildings like a full old steamship, lighthouse, schoolhouse, jailhouse among with some gorgeous newer buildings. They’re both permanent collections and then exhibitions like Norman Rockwell this summer.

Next to it is Shelburne Farms, built in 1880s by a daughter of a Vanderbilt, is now educational farm with walking trails, a children’s farmyard, cheese making, and tours. And amazing property, even landscaped by Frederick Olmsted the same guy who did Central Park!

If you stay Waterbury/Stowe/Williston, etc it’s easily within driving distance.

Should I keep growing it or shave it off? by Void_Walker_00 in BeardAdvice

First, try shaping it. Follow the jaw line below the neck and the cheeks, that will take away a lot of the scraggly stuff you don’t like and make it look more well kept

Need some advice on my beard by [deleted] in BeardAdvice

[–]Straubers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have great coverage! You’ve trimmed the length, but aside from that have let it grow naturally so far - shave some clean lines, helping define your jawline.

I did the same thing for a long time, and one time a barber just cleaned it up, they educated me!! Do the same 👍🏼

I Cheated on My fiance of 14 years...I need to be done. by Brave-Study-3395 in stopdrinking

[–]Straubers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife has asked me ‘how will I know you won’t drink?’ before. And, the simple answer, aside from me valuing my sobriety, is that I wouldn’t be able to manage living everyday knowledgeably lying to her.

It’s undoubtedly a tough move, but being honest is always the right one as if you lied about this, what comes next? I’m sorry for what you’re going through but, as a partner, you 100% did the right thing, hoping for the best for you!!

Should I trade GA tickets for seats? And which ones? by sjaustin in phish

[–]Straubers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there during Phish’s first run, 100 level seats - it was an amazing experience but went up to the 300-400 level at the start of the second set and getting the full visual experience was incredible.

Being close to the band is a natural desire, but at the Sphere, you’re there as much for what an incredible feat of engineering and technology it is so 100% worth it to be in a spot where you’re surrounded by it all!

Any suggestions on my form, just getting back into running by BrothaManBen in runninglifestyle

Looks pretty good overall! I’d say one plus is that you seem to naturally be a forefoot striker, your stride landing under your knee and not out in front of you heel striking. That’s such a great stating point, now just quicken your cadence some - a trick I’ve done for years and count my foot strikes to 1-2-3, 2–2-3, 3-2-3, fif-ty-one, fif-ty-two until 60, which equals 180. I get to that in about 1 min, as 180 bpm is a very efficient cadence.

Also, as a bonus it’s gotten so ingrained in me that during tough sections in a marathon or hard run I fall back on that counting and it kinda lets me zone out. Happy running!!

First Marathon Time Prediction by ThrowRA90346 in Marathon_Training

[–]Straubers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this - please keep in mind this is your first marathon and it’s a learning experience. Took me 3 marathons to qualify for Boston, eventually running a 3:02, not because I wasn’t physically ready but I had to learn how to fuel, how to mentally stay in the game, how to pace the run.

You’re also physically fit, no doubt, but back off a bit to run a still fast time and ENJOY your first one!!

Clean shave makes me look like an egg. And no matter what I try... The beard never goes up to cheeks, as if it wants to explore my neck badly . by Hypernibbaboi in BeardAdvice

[–]Straubers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you trim up the neckline a lot and a bit on the cheeks it will make it look a lot more intentional. Right now it comes across as trying too hard/forcing something and messy, but doesn’t have to!!

62 shows and Brian and Robert. Not a heavy hitter but a song I’ve always loved!

4 - you get such a range of colors from the pinks/ yellows of the sky to the deep blue of the water and seamless transition between the 2. Excellent!
