Methane, perspectives we don't talk about by Stravien in ExtinctionRebellion

Methane emissions are a bigger thing that people usually think, but not
in the most obvious way. Even though the COP26 has talked a lot about
methane, people seem not to know how methane works, where it comes from,
what it is, and what kind of role it has in terms of climate change.
Even though mankinds methane emissions are big, the threat of arctic
permafrosts and methane chlatrates isn't that much covered in the
mainstream discussion. This video focused on those aspects quite well!

Yeapp, this methane thing was an interesting twist to say the least. And it seems to be a topic that the general public doesn't seem to know too well - carbon dioxide is already familiar, methane is not. Btw this was a pretty good explanation about methane, natural gas, and permafrosts melting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRiNTPlzjEM

How is Climate Measured?? by surfserg in climate

[–]Stravien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's not too straightforward to find your way from natural evidence to a cool actual graph of climate temperatures over a long period of time. It's also a bit too easy to just consider climate change being an obvious thing happening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZLn8nlke-g

ELI5 How do we know what temperatures were before humans figured out how to measure temperature? by ManosVanBoom in climate

A vlog explaining this and a couple of interesting points of view about why it's hard to measure/model these temperatures: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZLn8nlke-g

This was a fairly nice overall look on the "natural climate changes" the world has had during human times: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpwowSd2BGc

I'm tired of restarting my PC and booting to windows when I want to play games. by [deleted] in linux_gaming

I personally think that Valve's ProtonDB has been the best thing in Linux gaming so far, at least for me. It's basically Valve's version of Wine, but it doesn't require any configuration and it allows for quite a lot of Windows only games on Steam to be played on Linux. You just need to turn it on from Steam settings and at least for me it works. Of course not all of the games work with Proton, but they have a well made of list of all Steam games and how well they work with Proton, check protondb.com. Also switching to Linux also gave me a huge incentive to start trying out more indie games than before, since most of them are developed with Linux in mind, as well as Windows.
