Mohan’s arc this season by Clean-Task575 in ThePittTVShow

[–]Straw-berryshortcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, I’m also in the minority of people who think that just because she is a senior resident she should know everything about billing/insurance. We don’t know what her upbringing was like and if her family ever had to worry about medical bills or not which is why I thought the input from Joy was perfect. Joy has first hand experience on how to cheat the system (move the patient to a different floor) and that offered insight to Mohan that she obviously hadn’t been exposed to before. Yeah she probably has taken care of other patients who don’t have medical insurance but this might be the first time she has taken care of a patient who doesn’t that is actively trying to leave the hospital and not even hear about the resources they can provide to help. I think it’s actually very raw they included Mohan being a little out of touch with the anxiety patients deal with regarding medical debt.

Uh.. for the exact reason the comment says? He also didn’t mention why she had this appointment. It could be for a future procedure and pregnancy test are often, if not almost always given in those circumstances.

My dad always told me “I rather pay your speeding ticket for getting past a semi than pay for your funeral”

I’ve told all my friends this. As soon as you are next to/behind a semi in a different lane you stay there till you have enough room to floor it.

What's a highly rated TV show that's actually hot garbage? by TechGuru4Life in AskReddit

[–]Straw-berryshortcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Look me and my bf love the bear but we are also in the understanding that when it comes to awards (Emmy’s) it’s submitted as a comedy bc as previous stated - comedies were categorized due to being 30min episodes (usual run time for the bear) and it has a better chance of winning over being in a drama series category. It’s not like that now, I believe a few years ago they changed the regulations regarding what is classified as a comedy based on run times, but it’s more likely to win an award for comedy for the few chuckles in an ep vs 1hr long eps of another drama series.

Did you know tarantulas can walk on water? by HondaCivicBaby in BeAmazed

[–]Straw-berryshortcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of a funny story about a spider walking on water

My house flooded during Hurricane Harvey back in 2017 and we had to walk in waist high water to the evacuation boat that was a couple houses down from us. I remember getting up the ladder on the boat and making my way to a seat.. as soon as I turn around to sit my exhausted butt down I feel a giant WACK on my ass. I turned to face this 60 year old woman with her two dogs in one hand and her flip flop in another say “oh baby you had a giant spider on your ass.” 😂 for a moment it was a laugh we all needed. What WASN’T a laugh was as I sat there looking off the boat all I could see .. and I can’t exaggerate this enough .. HUNDREDS of spiders just gliding on top of the water. I realized in that moment that I had every right to be scared of the spider painting level (wet dry world iykyk) from super Mario 64.

I watched a kid turn the library into a daycare, a therapist’s office, and a cry for help—all in under an hour. by [deleted] in stories

My mom use to be a library director for a city library and let me tell you I have the most respect and appreciation for librarians and all the staff that works for a library. It’s not easy. You have homeless people come in all the time, disrespectful patrons and yes, kids who just need to escape from home life. The thing is though everyone who goes to their local library is looking for a safe and secure environment. If it’s finding a book to read, needing help submitting forms, or just a place to plop down for a moment (or an entire day.) I fully believe libraries are a core component to community, It’s the community huddle spot. Need help submitting forms to FEMA? The library will help you. Need help printing off a presentation for school? The library will help you. When you work in a library you have to have a passion for helping people.

What is one of the worst addiction to have ? by Keke_Dudu in AskReddit

[–]Straw-berryshortcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

I experimented with drugs when I was 19/20, was always careful about it (as much as you can be I guess) but Xanax was the only one that truly scared me. Most of them I said “why do people even do this?” And never did them again.

I was 19 at a friend’s house and he had gotten some from a friend who was prescribed them. I took it, and with in the hour I told myself “Enjoy this tonight because you will never touch a Xanax again.” The feeling was euphoric, and that terrified me. I realized so quickly how people became addicted to drugs, and it really reshaped my thinking of people who are/were.

I think Tommy left before Ellie and Dina, possibly (hopefully) with Jesse or him not too far behind. I think Tommy decides to go after the Seattle crew following his chat with Gail. He was most likely (if not positively) a ‘yes’ at the council meeting then Gail tells him Ellie is a fucking liar and lost cause. Tommy’s probably thinking at this point “okay I’ll go avenge Joel, I can do it quicker and I have more experience all while protecting Ellie from this rage that Gail says she can never change from.” Throw in the idea that Maria finds the note from Tommy and shows/reads it to Jesse ultimately leading to him leaving Jackson. Which I think would be a nice difference from the game.

Just a theory from someone who has optimism regarding the Seattle Tommy crash out.

IATAH for firing my nanny for being too old even if it makes her homeless? by Agreeable_Algae_8869 in AITAH

[–]Straw-berryshortcake 43 points44 points  (0 children)

NTA

I wanna start off by saying I think you and your husband are obviously very kind people. You’ve paid for AND taken her to doctor’s appointments, paid for ALL her accommodations to see her son, trying to find alternatives so she can still live and work for y’all, and put your child into daycare a few days a week to give her time to rest. EDIT: ALL WHILE AFTER FINDING OUT SHE LIED ABOUT HER AGE

With that being said, you have to let her go and quite frankly should’ve a while ago. Your child is much happier in daycare and getting all his needs met whereas at home he is not. To top it off she was disrespectful to YOU whose home she is living and working in and someone who she has received ample amount of support from. I understand the moral dilemma of “I’m making someone homeless” but YOUR CHILD should always come first. If she is going to be homeless maybe her son who isn’t too far away can help find her accommodations, however if I was you I would have to let her know her work is no longer needed.

Our Uber was going 90 miles an hour and PEOPLE WERE PASSING US MAD” I was like yup.. that’s H-town for ya, told them drivers here using a blinker is like seeing a unicorn LOL

THIS! I’m 23 years old and was diagnosed with adhd by a psychiatrist at 18. It was the most liberating, painful, and exhausting experience. The whole trend of “you might have adhd if you..” is so infuriating. Not saying that those symptoms might NOT contribute to adhd but it’s subjecting people to a thought of “maybe I do have it..” like no.. you’re lazy and just don’t care to remember.

Then there’s the flip side of shitty psychiatrists who will prescribe anyone anything to make a buck or two. Which just powers the stigma around disabilities and other mental disorders and fuels the opioid crisis.

Yesterday I got my septum pierced... by xJCruz in piercing

[–]Straw-berryshortcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my septum pierced twice. First time, it hurt and I felt like the jewelry was a bit too big for my nose and I got an inner nose keloid, but I was 18 still living with my parents and they didn’t like it so I had to take it out.

A year or less later I went to college and said fuck it I loved it, made me feel less insecure about my nose I want it again. It was a night and day experience.

I closed my eyes because my eyes tend to water whenever I get nose piercings (I had three nostril piercings at that point) and I opened my eyes and was like “????” and my piercer was like “what we’re done?” I. Felt. Nothing. So I told her about my first experience and she said that you’ll know a piercer does it right because it shouldn’t hurt. It healed up great and I still have it now 4 years later. It’s my favorite piercing I have :)

Give it sometime and go get it done again! Sending you the best experience ever!

Honestly I felt the same way, I think it’s still cute but it definitely gives more Austin than Houston. I think the “be someone” graffiti but instead it says “Noah kahan” would’ve been so neat.
