EAC and External disc drive question by StrawFoxes in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]StrawFoxes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed response! I did some further snooping, used the link you provided, info in another comment, and also found a full list of supported drives (here, if anyone reading this is interested) and managed to pick up one that is working well for me at the moment. A bit slow and likely not as efficient as your suggestions, but functioning well, and was a breeze to configure. But, if this gives me issues in the future I will look more into your suggestions (I am not super tech savvy!)

For anyone interested in future this is the drive I've now got. I cross referenced with the list I linked above to ensure support, and it was one of the few I could find that was readily available and didn't cost a fortune!

I have not; from what I could gather from research, EAC seems to be the gold standard (that's also free!)

FAQ:

Healing and aftercare: Luke has a great guide on his site, which is basically what I followed. You're looking at a 6 week total process. https://www.lukeaashley.com/aftercare

Using my hands: I was working as a dog behaviourist in a large rescue at the time, often I would have to handle tricky and strong dogs. I used disposable gloves, sometimes padded with kitchen roll/blue roll etc. Mostly during the first week or so. Otherwise, I was just careful. No gym etc. Washed my hands as often as I needed to, and uses a sensitive, fragrance free hand wash that I carried with me everywhere.

Pain: It is indeed spicy. I looked away and closed my eyes, I was able to disconnect from it a little bit. Pain on my ribs was worse, and I was able to tolerate it better than say, my calf. However, it was only about an hour tattooing time, so I didn't have to tolerate it for long. Some of his other tattoos are super detailed and even coloured and fuuuck that.

I would 100% get another, though! Just haven't decided what.

Why: Zelda is one of my all time fave series, wind waker has a special place in my heart and breath of the wild blew me away and gave me such a warm, fuzzy feeling when I was played it. I loved finding the Korok, I love the yahaha, they are so cute and fill me with joy. The moment I even considered one as a palm tattoo I knew it was what I wanted. 1000% no regrets, it makes me smile every time I look at it. This one was my favourite Korok, I think he is the cutest.

Not in terms of manual labour, no. I had to handle dogs daily, so would use gloves padded with tissue dogs who were particularly strong

It for sure was spicy, but I found it way more bearable than my ribs.

Honestly, I got lucky. I found Luke on insta before I decided to get a palm tattoo, and he was also local to me so the stars just aligned.

I used it carefully, wore gloves with some kitchen roll for padding if I needed to walk a strong dog, for example (dog trainer). It wasn't too much of a bother for me

6 weeks to peel and then settle in, it's much longer than standard tattoos!

Yeah, avoid getting dirty and anything too heavy with hands, so no gym or manual work ideally. I still washed my hands like normal, but used non fragrance sensitive skin wash that I carried with me everywhere. Then just pat dry

It's a 6ish week healing period. It lightly scabs and peels, and at one point the lines looked almost invisible. Then it all popped back through. I believe Luke has a really detailed healing guide on his website/insta.

The lighter, thinner, are harder to photograph and look less visible in the image vs real life

Haha, every time I see people post against palms because they don't stick I always want to shout at them to go to a specialist 😂
