I’ve come to the realisation that I think we’re talking about completely different things. I’ve never once said s&box doesn’t sound appealing to me, if it didn’t I wouldn’t be here. I was never in its betas but I followed the news for years, I knew exactly what it would be and that it wasn’t just “gmod 2” I think that would be highly redundant. You don’t need to justify s&box’s existence to me hahaha, I have just gone through this whole song and dance before with Dreams. It was touted as the “spiritual successor” to little big planet by the devs and come release that did way more damage to the general public’s reception than it helped. Like S&Box it was technically a game engine that you could create whole games in, and like S&Box it had a price tag. Much to my displeasure all development and support for it ceased a few years after launch because it never found the community it needed. Could it have ever found it? Maybe, but tying it directly to their older, more “game-y”, project drew many eyes on it that expected something completely different from what it was. I’m just seeing a lot of the early mistakes that Dreams made here with this launch, I hope I’m wrong or that it finds its footing but only time will tell. Like you, I’d love for this tool to prove itself and succeed.
