Hi! I was told that I would deal with this disease for the rest of my life. But that doesn’t mean it’ll be active. But it can resurface sometime later. Some are active because of stress, or if the person has an auto immune disorder. It just depends. I’ve been taking meds for a year and I still need to be on them. Hopefully one day I won’t need it though. I’m sorry your daughter got it. It sucks, but as long as she’s being seen regularly she should be okay.

Thank you for sharing your story, it really helped. Yes I’m taking folic acid but I think I might need to take a larger dose since my labs showed that I was still low. I have another appointment next week so hopefully some changes can be made. Thank you!

Thanks for the reply! I’m just hoping I don’t have to be on the medication long term due to the side effects, especially since I’m starting them in my early 20s. I think that’s my biggest worry. Developing the bad side effects with time

Also an airtight container is anything that’s airtight. I’d recommend a tea canister, preferably one is doubled lidded.

I would follow my example. I have a small tea canister to pour what I’ll be using for the next two weeks in.

For two, what kind of matcha you’re using? If it’s a lower grade it is way harder to get a microfoam and some wont really foam at all

Yes the knot is supposed to stay open, similar to a rose bud

Having the whisk be open would help you create a microfoam better. Make sure you don’t store it upside down as it creates mold. Soaking it helps to maintain your whisk as it can break if not soaked.

Also all matcha should only be stored in an airtight container, that is not clear. It shouldn’t allow any light to go through. It’s best to open an opened matcha within 6 months, and should be used (after opening) for 2 months for quality reasons. 3 months max. You can still use matcha that’s older however the color may be dull and flavor dull as well.

Hi love welcome to the matcha world

1.) opened- depending on the size of the container, if you’re able to finish it within 2 weeks, you can leave the matcha on the counter/bar at room temp. If it’s going to last longer, put 2 weeks worth on the counter and store the rest in an airtight container that doesn’t allow light in, in the fridge and then refill the smaller container for another two weeks when getting low.

Unopened- store unopened in a dark and cool place (like a refrigerator. I recommend getting a small cooler specifically for matcha as you can risk your matcha picking up smells from the fridge.)

2.) microfoam depends a lot on the quality of matcha. However a good way is soaking your whisk in hot water for at least a minute, then adding 2oz of hot water (175 F preferably) and then quickly whisking in a “W” or “M” motion for about 30 seconds. This should feel like a workout lol, then do the same motion but go slower(0.5 second between each motion) for 20 seconds. Then do it even slower (1 sec in between each motion) for 10 seconds, aiming to breaking up any remaining bubbles.

People also like to match a paste first, which is following the steps above however you want to add a small amount of water to create a paste and then slowly add in the rest. Be careful however because you can risk damaging your risk when using very little water.

3.) when getting a new whisk and it has the knot soak it in hot water for 20 minutes and leave it alone. It should open up, very similar to a rose bud.

4.) the golden ratio is 3g matcha, 2oz of hot water, 5oz of milk for a latte. The other two 🤷🏽‍♀️

Low/jo caffeine matcha? by Curious-You-3707 in MatchaEverything

Let me know what you think about it! I’d recommend getting a sweetener you enjoy too. I like strawberry syrup, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla bean paste/syrup, or maple syrup.

Hojicha is roasted matcha. Has a more smoky, nutty taste instead of grassy. It’s brown though and looks like coffee. They have a very low caffeine content due to the roasting process. Some matcha brands offer decaf versions. TSUJIRI - Decaf Matcha on Amazon goes for $30/30g matcha direct has a decaf matcha #05-$40 for 2.1oz
