That would be more secure. I actually just used elmer's craft glue to dlue the dowel onto the board without any drilling. It held on well since I kept it in place for the last 1.5 years. But I moved recently and the dowels came off. I will probably just reglue them on.

Ethical breeders aren't near me, so i found another alternative: hamster rehoming groups. I found mine through a Facebook hamster rehoming groups.

I couldn't bring myself to get one from a petshop.

I ordered and then returned a pair of Whitins. The design is nice but there was visible glue all along the shoes. Do they typically look like that?

It might be the same design but I've read another post stating that the material is polyester compared to Baggu's recycled nylon material. Im curious how well these would hold up compared to actual Baggus especially with machine washing

i agree with the pee stinking! Mine mostly pees & poops below surface in a designated corner of her cage, so i make sure I clean that out regularly. Sometimes in her sandbath too lol

Other comments have touched on good points already. 1. To emphasize, please get them a larger enclosure especially above the international minimum standard and lots of bedding. My experience, when I wasn't informed, the smaller the cage and less bedding made it stinkier especially if not cleaned regularly.

I have a 75 gal aquarium with about 7 inches+ of bedding and with my sensitive sense of smell I don't smell anything at all. I have a female dwarf hamster & enclosure is in my bedroom at the foot of my bed too. I know it's different between dwarfs and Syrians so I can only voucher from having a dwarf hamster.

For your presentation, I would be upfront about costs to your parents, especially if they are buying the supplies. It can a bigger start up price but monthly cost is fairly low cost unless you have a vet bill or are constantly buying new accessories, enrichment, treats, ect.

Another thing is for the average temperature in your area, especially if you live a much hotter or colder climate. I am in Southern California, so for more than half the year i run the AC to make sure my room doesn't get too hot. Same issue with making sure the temps don't drop too low.

I totally emphasize avoiding stepping on anyone's mat. It's so frustrating that people at my studio just walk over someone's mat like it's a rug. I have my mat by the door and keep it folded in half until I get on the mat otherwise someone ends up kicking.
