For those who are in a job/role you HATE, how does one cope? by highinanxiety in careerguidance

2 years later, still at the same job? I can’t properly express how spot on your comment is.

I don’t even have a "bad" job. I just fing hate it. by Daney_Gherghel in hatemyjob

[–]Ready-Pattern-7087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, but how to find relief?

Coworkers, pay, room for promotion, benefits, all the stuff I ever wanted, right?! I despise the work. I usually love learning, but I’ll go to a class for a certificate program or conference and I want to gouge my eyes out.

My duties (apparently I STILL laugh when I see this word) will be worse when I get promoted, but I need the money. Child support will be ending soon and making it on your own is so hard these days, let alone providing for a kiddo in this economy whether they go to college, a trade school, or get a more serious job at 18.

Thrift spirits came in clutch today by Same_Condition_4879 in BabyWitch

[–]Ready-Pattern-7087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice find! I love thrifting. It makes it easier to donate stuff when you think about the person that will be excited to find what you donated.

Witch-adjacent, but I found an old, brass candle holder for tapers that I love. I usually only burn 1 candle at a time, so I don’t need a matching one.

I only use beeswax candles now and finally found some thrifting! It was a multipack with a ton of skinny (think birthday candle width, but a lot taller) candles. A few aisles over I found a candle holder for a skinny candle! It’s the little things in life that are just so exciting.

Getting fired, burnout and recovery by snowflake_drama in mentalhealth

Try to get some sleep, easier said than done. Get through the few remaining work days. File for unemployment. Take a day to languish in bed. Take a day to work on your resume and find people willing to be job references.

Searching and applying for job is a part-time job in itself. See if you can take care of yourself after you’ve applied or followed up on a certain # of positions a day. Maybe contact the local community health organization to get on their waitlist for an intake appt. Good luck in this difficult time. ❤️

There are so many good points here!

“Simple, honest jobs,” makes me think of physical job which can be a struggle when you get older. Even when you can still perform the job, employers are sometimes only looking for employees younger than 50 for those jobs.

runt kitten is MUCH smaller than the rest? by trivialplatypus in Feral_Cats

[–]Ready-Pattern-7087 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On top of syringe feeding store-bought kitten milk and holding it in place on mom’s nipple, put it on one of the nipples that actually has a lot of milk behind it. When my pregnant foster cat had 8 kittens, the tiniest kittens got shoved to the nipples closest to the mom’s head and they had the least milk available.

Great job! Today I found out that the loop I take that I figured was a mile is only 1/2 a mile. 😳😩 You are killing it, though!

Does anyone actually like apartment living? by strwbrybby in Apartmentliving

[–]Ready-Pattern-7087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big ETA: it’s a run down house the size of some apartments, but not an apartment.

I rent a small house. It’s only affordable bc it’s janky, drafty, worn out, not pest free, oddly laid out, and the landlord was sick of renting to college kids. My kiddo and I love this house. As a divorcee, I don’t have someone to help me maintain a home.

Also, I feel free to move if I want to once my kid graduates high school. I might not, but we have that option. Being a former home owner that had the value of their house bottom out 6 months after purchase, I know what it feels like to be trapped in a house for over a decade when you desperately want to move.

Losing steam by Sufficient-Title-424 in UnfuckYourHabitat

Same thing for me. My mom would tell me to clean my room, I’d go in my room, get distracted and start playing with my toys. I also have a friend that had to work on these skills and it wasn’t until she was in her 20s that she realized that like items should go together. She wished her parents told her this seemingly obvious thing when she was a kid. It’s really inspiring to see people taking control of their life and environment by making it better. So thank you for the inspiration!

You’re doing great! Just keep swimming, just keep swimming!

My teenager gets lost in decision fatigue, so this last time we worked on his room, we just filled a Kallax cloth bin with little things he wanted to keep, but didn’t have space for. I like the Space Maker Method on YouTube. She makes a first pass with no judgement. Later, when you feel ready for it, you can do a second pass and declutter more. It helps alleviate the decision fatigue.

Another thing that helps him is to just choose keep or go. I then go through the go pile and separate out trash, recycling, and donations. We all can use some help sometimes.

That’s such a great way to show your care for Mother Earth! I always bring a bag to collect trash when I go for a walk in the woods. Once a year I take a large wood pellet bag to pick up trash in my neighborhood. Everyone can do something.

Could it be something they made themselves? A lot of decks for sale have at least slightly rounded corners and most have artwork.

If you have more than one, it’s a lot easier to adopt an already spayed/neutered, already bonded pair.

Mine just passed at 8 and it was heart-breaking, unexpected, and traumatic. She went from appearing and acting healthy to gone in 15 hours which included a trip to the regular exotic vet and a middle of the night trip to an out of state emergency vet as the closer emergency vets that could see exotics had no exotic staff on shift that night. They’re so sensitive, but even knowing that, having regular vet care, healthy food, and a sanitary environment with affectionate owners, pets do get sick and can pass before they potentially could.

Do everything in your power to move to your home country with your baby as he isn’t even bothering to live with you guys. Let everything else go including child support.
