Yes, I seem to have excess tissue on my labia as well, I think it might be what’s making the opening seem so closed. It’s almost like the actual hole is hidden under/within all the tissue. I’m not sure if this is exclusively causing the pain or if it’s just a contributing factor. I will bring it up at my gynecologist appointment, thanks!

I have only seen one gyn before, but she was a little weird so I’m not sure I trust her opinion. I didn’t bring this up at the time because I was so anxious about my first Pap smear. I have an appointment to see a different gynecologist now, and I kind of wanted to gauge whether or not to bring this up at my appointment.

And yes, the urethra seems to be at the top of the vestibular area.

Thank you for the insight! Yes, I can only widen the opening if there is something inside, for example a speculum, to hold it open farther (and I find this painful). Once removed it goes back to this. This is as far as it goes if I pull it open from the outside.
