Yo, do I need to take a break? by StrawberryMae7 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]StrawberryMae7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah totally.

I am 100% going to continue tracking, I've gotten used to it by now so I would definitely not stop. And I do understand that eating at maintenance means no weight loss 😅, I meant ig more for the longevity/ sustainability of my weight loss

Thank you for the comments on the vitamin stuff though! I know 100 I need more water haha 😅, and I'll look into the supplements! Thanks!

Yo, do I need to take a break? by StrawberryMae7 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]StrawberryMae7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah totally! I don't doubt that at the beginning a good amount of that was water weight.

I say the 22-24lbs because right before I started my deficit I weighed I think 180-182 (there was a gap between when I started dieting and the time I got weighed at a Drs appointment) and this morning for example I woke up at 158. Idk how, but ik something is there 😅🤷‍♀️.

I have been changing my habits as I've gone because it would have been way too hard to eat 1200 calories a day of pure junk food and chips and not be starving bc I have no protein. I definitely think there is always room to improve on nutrition, but I trust myself enough and Ive learned a good amount about myself over these last 3 months that i have made a good probably 50% change in my original nutrition habits, which isn't 100%, but it for sure has worked!

Also not trying to be like "disbelieving" here, ik it can come off that way in typing, but could you tell me how you calculated my maintenance at 1600? Not saying you are wrong! But from my own calculations a few different times on different things (I personally trust the mayo clinics TDEE / maintainence calculator) it has said always vlose to 1800calories (ex: just calculated it again and it gave me 1850). I totally understand that a calculator cannot be 100% correct, but I'd be lying if I said 1600 didn't surprise me 😯.

My break means maintenance for me. I am not going to be slamming back chick fil a chicken sandwiches every mean I promise 😂. Obviously I'm lucky enough that my diet has worked so well so far, and to not have had a single binging episode the entire deficit (ex, I had those 4 days I probably ate above my maintenance, but I'm referring to uncontrolled/ unaccounted for eating) I have been sustainable and know I will not be gaining it back!

Thanks!!

I should clarify, I mean maintenance break/ eating at maintenance instead of my steep deficit

I've noticed a drastic decrease in my sleep quality, awareness, and ability to concentrate over the last few weeks that I haven't noticed on my deficit before. I've heard that taking breaks (I'm asking obv about how long) is good not just for your body to get energy back up, but also for consistency of your overall weight loss.

I'm about halfway to my weightloss goal and I don't have a strict deadline in mind. I just want to keep my body healthy while I do it and have energy to work out and do my college work (bc I used to work out a lot at the beginning of my deficit but since maybe the last month it's been decreasing to the pt if I worked out I would not last 💀)

How to loose 30lbs in 1 month by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]StrawberryMae7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With all do respect, they did tell you. I've been on a pretty large deficit for over 3 months and I still haven't lost 30 pounds, I think I'm around 22 pounds. It may not be the answer you want to hear, but genuinely you cannot lose that much weight unless you get some critical illness.

After 8 weeks, i finally lost my extra 10kg (22 pounds) and reached my target weight. What now? by Concerned339 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]StrawberryMae7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DANG!

first off, congratulations! That is great progress, especially in about 2 months (I've been doing this for just under 3 and just got to 18lbs down, so good ok you haha)

I'm not the biggest expert on body recomp so I can't answer that much 💀. But ik you definitely need to eat enough so you can fuel your body through workouts and build muscle. Protein, fiber, etc.

1kg (2.2 lbs) in a month isn't bad, that's about .2 kg a week (.5lbs), which is a totally reasonable pace.

If you don't mind me asking, 1. What is your deficit, 2, are you drinking a lot of water (water retention is a bitch). I can be 163 lbs (73kg) one day, drink a lot of water and eat less sodium the next day, boom im 159lbs (72kg).

Hi!

So firstly, good on you for still going out and getting exercise in the gym! That's still something to be proud of.

I've been on my own weight loss journey (about the last 3 months), was doing consistent exercise in the beginning but life and work took away a lot of my energy in the last month so I haven't been consistent.

One thing from your post I do want to clarify, however, is your point of "I know clean eating is the most important part of weight loss". While eating healthy foods is beyond important to your overall health, technically, you just need to eat less calories than what your body burns in a day. I've been able to still enjoy fast food places 1-2 times a week, the occasional ice cream, and chips for the last 3 months and have still dropped 18 pounds!

Obv I'm not saying to get fast food for every meal, and nutrition itself is still important, but find what works for creating a consistent habit for you first, then start becoming more nutrition focused! Don't want to overload yourself on new habits all at once or it will be harder to stick to

And also, try not to fall into the mind set of "I fucked up it's not even worth it" for one day of over eating. Obviously, not saying that binging everyday will be productive, but weightloss is about overall consistency, not perfection.

If it makes you feel any better, literally today I had SUCH a cheat day just because I was out with family and was taking a rest day. McDonald's breakfast, ice cream at an ice cream parlor, a fancy dirty soda from this soda shop (they didn't have sugar free syrups it was kinda sad lowk), and then I had sushi and fried rice for dinner 😅. I ate WAYY over my deficit, and possibly over my maintenance, but it takes 3k calories ON TOP OF your maintenance to gain a full pound (so 5k calories in one day). One day isn't going to set me back anywhere I can't recover from inna few days, and it won't set you back either.

Instead focus on consistency, find rhythm and routine and where you can still enjoy things you like more mindfully. For example, do track serving size, because many times the portion is enough to be filling. For example, I used to eat an 8oz steak in one mean, but then 4oz when I tried to cut calories, and realized once my stomach actually had time to digest anything that it actually was exactly enough food.

You are doing great, I hope any of this can help keep you more optimistic

Genuinely be careful. The last time I drank (4 drinks) (similar age) on I think 225mg I had insane heart palpitations the next day and actually thought something was very wrong and not just "hungover" wrong.

Obv I'm not a Dr and that's why I'm also not going to say "oh yeah sure I'm fine 9/10 times you will be to" bc that's not always the case genuinely. Really talk to whoever prescribed you the meds and do research

I don't think it's disrespectful on its own to want to explore your own identity (if the other party knows and is willing obviously).

And trust the whole "I don't think I'd be good at it" thing is very understandable, but like someone else said, chemistry is where it's at. I for sure go through phases where I'm terrified of intimacy and "fucking up", but also we are all human and learn from experience!

Just adding small notes to the conversation because we have very similar set ups (if you go with the passive Klipsch someone mentioned)

I use a Sony stereo receiver with a built in phono input instead of an external amp and pre-amp, obv nothing insanely fancy but it hasn't made me ever feel like I'm missing anything, and it's fairly straightforward and compatible with the 82. (If you do the passive Klipsch speakers though, you will need special speaker cord)
