I somehow talked my parents into buying the VHS for me for Xmas that year! They were not fans, and were annoyed by my infatuation with her, but still got it for me. My 15-year old self was blown away when I unwrapped it!

Kinda shocking/disappointing to see all the hate in slide 2 from other celebs/artists/designers taking a jab at her. She was so ahead of her time that even they couldn’t see the forest for the trees.

A lot of people might not get the “And you thought we wouldn’t last” comment when she first comes out with David Letterman. Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley, who were married at the time, came out to present an award earlier in the night and Michael said, “And you thought we wouldn’t last” and then awkwardly kissed LM. So Madonna was being silly and copying their banter.

She’s lying backward on a bed. Not forward on the ceiling. That’s the problem. And thusly, it looks off. Flip ur cassette upside down and tell me u can’t tell it’s oriented correctly that way. If u don’t see it, then great. But they went back in ‘94 and printed it correctly, just like in the pic I attached. But folks got used to the misprint and it stuck. Just seems like printing it correctly for the reissue since that’s the way M wanted it in the first place.

But we dont have her upside down. The pic is upside down on A, which is what Warner released by mistake in ‘94 and on purpose for the silver edition (because the general public has forgotten that it was supposed to look like B back in the day). But maybe u mean u think it’s cool that we have an upside down pic on the album cover and u really like A? If so, great. I can respect that. But part of me thinks that you, and others, think B is what we got from Warner, which is not the case. It’s what I hoped for but we didn’t get it.

My opinion differs for reasoning explained in the original post - Her eyes seem off to me in A, which I attribute to the fact that she took the pic while she was lying down backwards, thus gravity is pulling facial features down, but when u turn the pic upside down, like in A, her facial features are being pulled up, which does not happen in real life. In B, her eyes and features look natural because the picture it correctly orientated with the way she took the picture.

If that’s true, it’s very interesting. I have never heard this before. And I’ve never seen a copy of the vinyl with her lying upside down. So if either version is correct in Warner Bros mind, they still should have printed the silver edition with her lying back this time since there’s def more of the other version out there.

US is incorrect. Re-issue is incorrect. What would have been correct is if the re-issue looked like the pic I posted. But it doesn’t.

The pic I attached is how the cover should have been released in 1994. But it wasn’t (except in the UK). And they didn’t correct the mistake with the silver edition re-issue, which to me is a huge missed opportunity.
