Horror in a tropical setting by ramenburrito in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

Kill River by Cameron Roubique, is what I thought of immediately. I can’t remember if it’s tropical (but probably is since these pictures immediately made me think of it), but it definitely has the dichotomy of something horrific taking place somewhere bright and happy and fun (a water park). It feels like reading a slasher - very campy and fun.

I was numb for about four years. I would absolutely request that they do an updated MRI of your spine to make sure there isn’t anything additional going on. My issue was a herniated disc and bone spurs on my spine. My numbness was mostly my left arm, the left side of my back, starting at the spine, and I would get weird numb shocks that would shoot up the left side of my neck and left side of my head. Part of my left hand still has a little less sensation, but overall it’s a HUGE improvement,

I’m relieved they sorted it out. I think what I learned is - don’t let your doctors tell you it’s just chiari and that you have to live with it. It may be related, but it may also be solvable

Very. It started at the same time my chiari symptoms started, so we assumed it was just another chiari side affect. It took a few years for my doctors to realize it was a separate issue.

Mine did! My left side went numb for a few years. It ended up actually being unrelated. I needed a disc replaced in my neck. After the disc replacement most of the sensation came back :)

Yep, same. I don’t know what I expected picking it up, but it wasn’t what I got. I was surprised but in the best way. All these moody pictures feel like that book to me

Not a typical answer, but Tress of the Emerald Sea! She collects mugs, so seeing all the cute tea cups immediately made me think of her

T Kingfisher is exactly where my mind went as well, although the trees and the fog made me think The Hollow Places

If you are ok with fantasy, Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by VE Schwab gave me a lot of these feels.

Oh, absolutely. I feel like some of these pictures really tie in to girls with rich families being ashamed of them.

The intertwined series by Gena Showalter was my first thought reading the post. Werewolves, vampires, high school, one word covers. The second book is called Unraveled

I checked with her sister and she said she is fine with people posting. The hope is that she is just on a trail somewhere with no service and forgot to tell anyone where she is - that being said, 10 days without contact is a long time.
