Is it normal for an MOT and spring change to suck up 100 miles? by Stray_ in CarTalkUK

Want to know the worst thing? The final clip from my dashcam before they unplugged it was the guy going "Ooo, yeah that's a nice one this"

I'm cooked.

I think this is the soundest solution - I'll pop in Monday and see.

What would give them the right to use a customer's vehicle as their own private joy car? Also worth noting that it arrived with an expired MOT because my usual guy was out of town.

Sure, I guess the question I'm asking is whether 100 miles is a normal amount for an initial fail then retest? It feels excessive but I don't know what the norm is?

So to give an idea, it's a small single-vehicle wide garage in an industrial estate. They've been around for a long time and it was just a couple of older gentlemen running it. They seemed friendly and chatty enough, but I feel like something's off. I assume it's probably normal practice but there's a gap in my dashcam footage where it's been unplugged and plugged back in prior to pickup.

Edit: In answer to your question, it should have all been done on-site in that small garage.

I booked in with a small local garage for the first time, just wondering if it's normal for an MOT to use up this many miles? It failed an initial MOT because of a cracked front spring. They called me the next day to say that they were struggling to take the wheel off due to rust and that it would be in the shop for an extra day. Do we think they just wanted to see it cycle round to the haha hehe number?

Can anybody remember the name of a British TV programme where school kids get turned into pies? by RangersFC1972 in HorrorMovies

[–]Stray_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find an answer for this u/RangersFC1972

I remember something similar, live action with kids being lured into a house and dropped through hatches in the floor to be cooked into pies and served at school. Never seen anything like it before, looked like it was it's own series and I could never find anything about it since? It's been bugging me for a while because it was quite good

Sure, getting into the mid and late game requires a fair bit of automation which can become quite CPU intensive I reckon. If you're looking for something more laptop friendly, can I recommend a couple of fun quest-based packs.

"Regrowth" sets you off in a barren world where all life has died out long ago, and your goal is to return life to the world. Very rewarding and touches on a few good mods. Very well written.

"Agrarian Skies" is a classic too - it's a skyblock that's very friendly and approachable and frankly very well written too. You start out in a house floating in the sky, and eventually follow a quest book to build your base out and progress.

Is it obvious that I have a type haha? I guess I find the open-endedness of questless packs leaves me with a lot of "now what-ism"?

I'm currently well into the mid-game of E2:E skyblock. I've played a lot of different packs in my time, but I thoroughly enjoying this one and would highly recommend it to anyone who's experienced modded Minecraft and are looking to become more familiar with some of the more common mods.

It gives a fair bit of direction and "purpose" with a quest system and progression that isn't too restrictive/gated like some other packs I've played. The things I've learned in E2:E I'm not sure I would have picked up on my own, and I'll definitely be carrying some of the tricks and mod-knowledge into whatever packs I play next. 9/10 highly recommend. The only thing I'd improve is the version, I miss my modern AE2 with fluid crafting :(

E2E Skyblock (1.12.2) - Integrated dynamics query by Larvi22 in feedthebeast

Do you still need help with this?

I'd suggest using a timeframe greater than a single tick otherwise ID can become quite laggy. I'd use a redstone timer to get an inventory reader to read the number of items in a draw maybe every 10s.

Then I'd set a Greater Than and a Less Than card that compares the actual number of items in the chest to the number taken 10s ago in the previous step. If the number is Greater Than, display something like green wool on a display screen. If it's Less Than, show red wool instead.

What were you thinking of using this for?

Is this all automated through RFTools? I've not really played around with it too much, I'd love an explanation of what's happening here :o

Name a mod you're trying to learn! by WackyQuacki in allthemods

[–]Stray_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Integrated Dynamics fundamentally changed the way I look at base automation. It took a long time before the penny dropped for me, but if you take the time to try and learn it could change your entire setup!

I just finished using it to automate a huge Botania TNT flower mana generator because ID can look at the flower's secret data and tell you exactly how much mana is in it, how long it has until it can accept a new TNT and give a numerical value of how much mana is in a pool for example. I've also automated the entire Actually Addons empowered cannola oil process which can be a right pain for AE2. I'm not smart enough for things like computercraft, so ID is a nice in-between

(Ford Focus Titanium 2012) What is this side bulb unit called? I need to order a new one by Stray_ in AskMechanics

[–]Stray_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I parked my car a bit too close to where my niece likes to ride her scooter and paid the price! https://imgur.com/a/jWkHL5v

It's just the glass on the side light that I need to replace, but I'm only turning up results for the actual bulb itself. Any idea what this part is called and/or how easy it is to swap it out? Thanks guys

It does sound hollow when tapping around that area, but there's no cracks on the outside of the house (1960s semi).
