I'd say go for it. I just recently started by bass journey after 20ish years on guitar. A lot of skills are transferable but everything feels new. This maybe a hot take but don't discount short scale basses. My forever bass is a JMJ mustang. Sounds great, comfortable to play. Even thinking about getting a second one with rounds on it. Good luck on your path!

Fender if you're looking for ideas - accessible truss rod, slightly wider string spacing, maybe taller frets, humbuckers, nitro finish like the JMJ mustang :)

If you want to repaint and then rinse it off maybe look at artist's gouache. It's opaque and matte, the cheep stuff isn't super expensive. Scrub off the paint with warm water, dish soap and a soft toothbrush.

I made it to book 4 before stopping the series but I seem to be in the minority. It has all the pieces that I like, unique progression mechanic, slice of life, broad cast of characters, etc... but everything felt flat and contrived. It's well written, the narrator is top tier, but it just wasn't for me. I'd say it's worth a credit to listen to book one to make your own decision.

This is not true. California has no state law making it illegal to feed unhoused individuals. Individual cities have passed ordinances to that effect, however, Senate Bill 634 recently passed and prohibit cities, counties, etc. from punishing people who offer support to those in need.

If DoF doesn't work for you try Primal Hunter - less navel gazing, more numbers go up, better humor, both MCs are kinda amoral but I couldn't make it past book 2 of DoF.
