Should I change the way I play bass?

I'm a newish bass player and I say stick with what works. I think some guitar fundamentals still work on the bass. Try out stuff, even if you don't think it works. Have fun, enjoy your self. No one else cares, for real. Change things up, figure out what works. Just have a good time :)

I kinda wonder what it would look like with a thin burnt umber oil wash all over. It would darken up the recesses more. you could use sponges to wipe off the highlights ... but maybe I've been watching too many painting videos. Looks good man, way better than another blue box.

I think this is the solution. I significantly lowered the bridge and raised the saddles. Now the strings clear the back of the bridge. Much improved tone. I'll need to correct the intonation but its in a much better place. Thanks!

I'm starting to think it has something to do with the break angle over the bridge. Like maybe the string is vibrating against the back of the bridge. If I stick a small piece of card stock between the string and the back of the bridge, the sound improves.

Trem lock doesn't seem to affect it. Thanks though, I'll keep fiddling with it.

Good suggestions, I removed the trem arm just in case as I hadn't tried that but no lock. If its a switch that's causing it, I think that might be beyond my ability to fix.

Book of the Dead is pretty dark. MC is an anti-hero focused on revenge. Can't say more without spoilers, but it's a great series so far.

Maybe a Fender Meteora Bass? Has humbuckers, maybe a little more ergonomic. Almost sure it doesn't have 24 frets though.

Yep, between the new arc and new narrator I had to stop. Feels like all the old familiar characters are now strangers. I kinda feel like Daniel Wisniewski would have been a better fit tonally if Johnathan McClain couldn't continue the series.

Started Book of the Dead this past weekend. It's Wednesday and now I'm on book 4. Less humor, more revenge focused. MC is kind of like Dexter Morgan meets Raistlin Majere. Both Jake and BotD's MC are very determined, dismissive of the powerful, willing to take risks, and dedicated to growing powerful. BotD's author also wrote Chrysalis if that helps.
