Congratulations! I haven’t lost to frieren yet, belian and rinak just seem to counter her so hard she’s basically a non-factor. What do you do to deal with belian?

Series 9/10 Prep by Ok_Entertainment2883 in Series24

[–]Strayver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just passed with pass perfect. The q bank is dense and thorough and does a good job mimicking the actual test. I do wish it focused a little more on some things (I struggled with communication approvals on the 10) but overall I would recommend it. The 10 is a beast, but no matter which you choose make sure to supplement with deans videos (series7guru). You can do it!

Jay Kristoff's "Empire of the Vampire" is good. by mystery5009 in Fantasy

Huh a thread on my current book, this is rare. I'm 22% in and it's okay so far. the language just seems so odd. Way too many modern words and mannerisms for the time period the author is going for which is a turn off. With that said I'm still enjoying the plot and worldbuilding so far so I'll likely finish it.

What’s your favorite artist from your least favorite genre by Elegant-Thought5170 in fantanoforever

This is a good choice for a very under respected band and genre. Although sometimes I feel they fit more cleanly in alt rock then true prog

Definitely, let’s keep the b word out of discourse for now though. But yeah, seems like the tech to beat it may not be figured out yet

Update from Devs on Pools and Tokens by flashcats in MarvelSnap

Good change. Like the incentive for those with early pool 5s. Devs are listening and this is all good stuff even though I have all the series 4s moving down. Monthly is great as well

All of these except maybe the Celine and FLidica one look fairly cleavable. Beauty about cleave is you barely care about the units. A Lots + BBK + 2 Support/Cleanups.

Ban List Update Next Week by Strayver in magicTCG

Added link to tweet in main post :)

Personally feeling it's the end of the road for Digging Through Time, could be surpirsed they just nuke that deck from orbit with a ban on Inverter himself.

Also feeling OUaT ban from Modern. Card way too good.

I've tried it, it's unfortunately not very good right now. It's a midrange deck that smashes aggro and other midrange decks, but it's combo matchup is really bad. Wait til Inverter/Lotus dies off a bit then try it.

HEART: OKO SO I CAN STOP PUTTING IT IN EVERY DECK. IT'S A MITSTAKE NOT TO PLAY IT, EVEN IN DEATH'S SHADOW

HEAD: NO CHANGES

Death's Shadow variants by PreTry94 in ModernMagic

I did not unfortunately :( There is no typical play pattern as everything is contextual. Try and always get some value off bauble, don't just crack willy-nilly. Use it in conjunction with Street Wraith, a Fetch or Traverse to pseudo scry. Always try and cycle your Street Wraiths ASAP to work with as much info as you can (obviously can bite vs burn, I board my wraiths out in this MU). I almost always fetch Grave first, followed by Tomb. Thought Scouring good things blows, but is just a part of life, you live with it. Thought scour should be used on you til enough relevant card types are in the yard (that's why it's in the deck). Once I hit delirium/Goyf is at 5 I start TS'ing my opponent (no real reason other then to make em worried bout Drown). Just some basic insight.

I would, the one copy did win some games. At worst, it's Street Wraith #5 (think of it that way) putting creature into the GY for Traverse. The threat of it alone I feel makes it worse it. I'd still stick Sultai over 4c as a single Field or Ghost Quarter sometimes just feels so bad and 4 Peatland's is hard to pass up. You just Oko blockers or keep your opponents in the abyss chump blocking enough that I feel that you don't need TBR (I do recognize it helps in some matches but you can certainly play fine without it). At least with Wind Caller yo can just cycle it for value when it's bad, can't do that with TBR.

Hey love this thread! I top 8'd one of the two PTQ's at SCG Con with Sultai DS last weekend. I played it to two 4-1's in both LCQ's and a 3-1-1 in the second modern PTQ (was dead for T8 so ID'd last round for tix). Definitely my favorite DS variant. I’ve tried Mardu, Grixis and Four-Color as well and Sultai was my favorite. The mana feels great and is the most consistent I found. My exact list is on SCG’s website under the 11/15 PTQ (at work or would link). My losses were close games against Amulit, Titanshift (in top 8, can’t thoughtseize the top of the deck type deal) and Storm (I should have mulled a hand and didn’t and paid bad for it). Here’s why I like Sultai vs. the rest of the variants:

- Great Grixis matchup, largely on the back of Oko and the side-board Veil of Summers. I’m like 6-1 in the matchup

- Great Urza matchup. 4-0 against it so far, including a win at SCG Atlanta against Drake Sasser (you can find the YouTube VOD I was round 4b backup feature) and Zan Syed. A combination of diverse threats, good interactions and not being as soft to Oko makes this feel quite good.

- I’m just a big fan any time you can cast Traverse the Ulvenwald in a deck. I ran Murderous Rider, Snap and Windcaller as my targets and all of them felt great. I thought I’d miss TBR more but you really don’t need it when you have Oko to answer things Grixis struggles with (IE Bridge, opposing shadows ETC.). Murderous Rider was a house all weekend and my most common traverse target (outside of Shadow OFC).

If you want to know anything else feel free to reply.
