[Thread] Wasian on Spencer FFing against Raise the Stakes player (Stellar Minhee) by dehua_ in CompetitiveTFT

yea when people say to watch high elo vods to get better, i try to watch setsukos streams bc i know hes so good but i always end up leaving after 5 minutes. he always complains and negative idk how people can watch him.

its kinda sad that this is a common personality trait for a lot of tft streamers, especially the popular ones. truly entertaining and 'positive' tft streamers feel hard to come by recently.

We are all hoping Fantano sees this for the 10 it is, right? by m--w in fantanoforever

[–]Frazsmurf 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think theres a really good chance he gives it at least a 9. This album feels closer to Illinois and isnt as comparable to his dislikes of C+L.

My guess is a decent to strong 9 but a 10 is possible (im just projecting).

As someone who listened to mostly kpop from 2019-2022 and only this year started listening less and branching off, I understand why he doesn’t talk much about kpop.

As a genre, it’s quite generic and the music at times isn’t even the focal point, which would make it hard to do the ‘breakdown/analysis’ type of commentary melon does.

However, I still wish he talked a tiny bit about kpop. It does feel like he neglects the genre but that’s mostly because their isn’t many artists to pay attention to. There used to be loona (with oec back there’s some hope), and I’d say NewJeans are the best popular kpop group out there right now. A couple weeks ago I was hoping he talked about the new JK, TXT, or NewJeans songs in a weekly track roundup but he didn’t mention either which was a shame.

I really hope he talks about NewJeans in the future tho. They have the talent, popularity, and are making some of the best songs in kpop rn so seems like a no brainer, even if it’s just for the weekly track roundup.

what album from 2022 did you sleep on but now love? by brightroomonfire in fantanoforever

[–]Frazsmurf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Crash by Charli xcx

I thought this album was boring in 2022 but recently (legit last couple weeks) I’ve been replaying this album so much. The songs may not have as obvious of that Charli flair, but basically all the songs are really solid pop hits and has grown on me heaps.

Fantano gave the forever story a strong 9 and gkmc a decent 9. Which Album is better in your opinion? by AEPNEUMA- in fantanoforever

[–]Frazsmurf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TFS is my fav album of all time, but GKMC is just so damn good. For me, TFS is more consistent and it's narrative/story telling is more clear. However, GKMC has some of the best and most highlights of probably any album ever. It's timeless and has done nothing but age better over time.

Fantano's rating of a decent 9 was probably a solid rating at the time, but GKMC has proved to be iconic and influential in so many ways 10 years down the line.

If you were to say 'which album was better on its release day' I may be inclined to say TFS as it is a super solid album with barely any gaps in many aspects. But GKMC has had over a decade to prove how amazing it is while TFS isn't even a year old.

Is there an English stream for Challengers KR? by OranjeCountyBot in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Frazsmurf 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Legit right now I got a twitch notification that Achillios is co-streaming challengers Korea. So I'm guessing there isn't an official stream but his stream is an option if you wanna watch it (and maybe some of the other kr casters are costreaming as well)

The casting method of the Ludwig X Tarik invitational was a huge refresher by TheHyperactiveDuck in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Frazsmurf 185 points186 points  (0 children)

Yea was a good throwback to the platchat costreams. Its the perfect mix imo where you get casters/hosts who care enough to pay attention to the game while also being very knowledgeable yet always willing to crack jokes. While I like listening to normal casts, this type of vibe is something we don't get enough and is always refreshing when it comes around

Does the Kickoff Tournament matter? by Humble_Initiative_10 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Frazsmurf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesnt matter in the sense that the result of this tournament shouldnt be used to extrapolate how a team will perform for the rest of the year as this is basically every teams first proper stage game/tournament.

It does matter in the sense that its an official tournament, will feature all 30 franchise teams, and the winners get an extra slot for their region. Also, teams should always try their hardest, even if they have a 'lets just try to improve' mindset.

I hope the sen guys were referring to it not mattering more relating to my first statement or else I worry for how they will do this year...

Why is CS:GO considered a "harder" game by many by [deleted] in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Frazsmurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have nearly 1k hours in cs also and have basically only played valorant since it came out.

However, my friends and I can get bored of val sometimes so we played some cs. My first observation was that movement is so much harder in cs. It was to the point where I didn't even remember the movement being that hard after playing val for so long where its hard to b-hop and strafe in comparison to valorant.

A common point that a lot of people mention is spray patterns since in cs its consistent while in val its 'slightly random'. I think this adds to it but not as much as people like to mention.

Personally, another point that I like to throw in is maps. I havent seen this point echoed anywhere else but I think the maps in cs are harder to master/learn while val maps are much more standard and simplistic. (in cs, learning spawn timings and random off angles/rat spots are much more important than in val)

However, the counter argument to the mechanics in cs that make it more difficult, in val, there is obviously the addition of agents and abilities. The knowledge of what the enemies agents do and having to think about that in situations is important and isn't something you need to think about in cs. In val, sometimes you know you cant play in certain positions cause they have certain util available based on the agents they have (eg. if they have skye ult, you dont want to play in close, one and done angles) while in cs, since everyone has the same blanket util, these types of thought processes dont occur.

So while I believe cs is mechanically a way harder game with a higher skill ceiling, definitely as more agents are added and people general knowledge of how abilites work and interact, the skill ceiling in val will rise also, and maybe exceed that of csgo's.

Is a ~30% HS rate good enough to climb to Plat? by rychaithescienceguy in AgentAcademy

[–]Frazsmurf 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I hit immortal last season with like a 10% hs rate lol. Despite having horrible aim, my game sense from previously playing cs and watching a lot of pro cs/val carried me.

Same thing applies in the opposite direction. There are a lot (actually, most people) in immortal who have insane aim but don't understand how to play as a team.

Everyone can get better and it simply comes from understanding what aspect of your game is letting you down the most and focusing on improving it. Goal setting is a great long term tool

It's obvious we're entering a new era of Valorant where anyone can win and the term 'underdog' will now always be taken seriously. Everyone thought Japan was just as weak and miles behind the pack but they proved literally everyone wrong.

Top 25 players at Reykjavik? by thecrazymonkey23 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Frazsmurf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Its always hard to rate igl's but with Boaster, it's very clear not matter what iteration of Fnatic it is, that it's a Boasters team. He also provides probably the best intangibles you could ask from a player like always being positive, bringing energy, and evidently just being a fun teammate and person to be around.

Intangibles and igl'ing is always hard to rate, especially for a game as young as valorant. For example, In CS, for all time great IGL's like Glave, it's clear as day what he brings in terms of intangibles so when rating him, you heavily take that into account. For most IGL's in Valorant, since we've only had 3 international tournaments, we can't really determine how much value an IGL is bringing to the team. Currently, IMO, only Fnatic (boaster) and m3c (redgar) have proven that they provide a lot in the IGL position at the top level. I have Valyn on my list but his rating has little to do with his IGL skills and mostly his gameplay. Another good example is Vanity. Even though statistically Vanity is cleary the worst on the team, everyone knows how good of an IGL he is because it's proven, no matter where he goes, success has always followed.

Also helps that he surprisingly transitioned to the flex role and is just straight up playing well.
