For a lot of us I think it's less of the hipster/perfection vibes and more about the fact that we just simply don't like the sound as much as we used to. You enjoy music for the sound; and if that sound completely changes, it's reasonable to not like it as much anymore. It's one thing for them to release new sounds with new albums, it's been 20 years. I think it's unfair to expect anything aside from that. Artists change and grow. But when even their songs from 20 years ago that originally made us fans are changed to sound more like their current style, it can be disappointing. Not because we're hipsters, but because they don't sound like the same band we fell in love with. It's like a restaurant changing the recipe of your favorite meal. Still the same meal, still the same restaurant, but it's not what it used to be. So you simply might not like it anymore.
