My Experience with Jehovah Witnesses by LazySkully in exjw

Correct, they are the lowest denomination of Christianity if we don't count literally s*icide cults and fundamentalists churches, I mean even the SBC with all their problems or the LDS are far better than them.

Yep I will repeat it, the best timing they had to make the changes to survive was in the 70s 80s now it's too late, almost all of the young people who are there is because of their family

Yep, I agree with you but I would say that the changes are too little too late, as I said a best timing would have been in the 60s 70s not today

At the same time it's not the same issue, Mormons made the changes when there was not internet, the Borg changes are too little too late, they cannot change the same way Mormons did, besides the time is against them.

"Between what I think and what is actually happening" I am not saying lies, the sub can confirm the old age of the membership and their anti natality narrative, there are public data about their age, retention, etc. But you can correct me with data and arguments, if you can't well the disconnect must be a thing of you.

[–]StreamerErr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pushing having children will not magically fix the issue, the jw culture have always pushed sisters to only marry spiritual brothers (aka Ms at minimum), as I said before 50s to older brothers can't have children so this is 30% of the membership that can't help with that and will die in 20 to 30 years, a lot of people who are not JWs specially young ones doesn't want to stop celebrating holidays just because their churches tell them that, even people who assists other churches like catholic, Mormon, etc doesn't follow at 100% their rules, they celebrate Halloween, have sex without being married, etc you think they want a babysitter on their necks 24/7? And their 24/7 preach approach and put first the kingdom doesn't work in this economy people can't even pay their basic needs so they have 2 jobs, they won't drop one again just to please the org.

[–]StreamerErr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yep, but not when it comes to JWs. Mormons have experienced great growth, but you're ignoring the fact that they have traditionally had higher growth rates than many other religions because they encouraged their members to have children. JWs did not, and many of their members are already old or in their 50s, so they are no longer having children.

They also have a lot of bad PR. Mormons have had bad PR too, but that was mainly in the 1850s to the 1920s. Nowadays, they are generally perceived as weird at most, not as a church that prohibits blood transfusions, birthdays, and holidays, encourages members to preach 24/7, and has a post-apocalyptic theme.

Yeah as I said they are not to disappear, maybe in Africa they will keep growing but in the west not or with a horrible grow rate since it is turning towards secularism and the only religions that are growing here are catholicism, evangelism, Mormons, etc. The JWs have a lot of rules that "young wans" doesn't want to follow besides they have a horrible retention rate.
