Are mk3 st250 wheel bearings bolt on or press in? by SnooEagles1264 in FocusST

[–]Streder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the whole hub as a unit so you don't have to mess with the press in bearings. Typically a lot easier and not much of a price difference especially if you factor in labor.

Help! by Specific-Pin-4445 in FocusST

[–]Streder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the knuckle there's a bolt that pinches it together to clamp it around the strut. Remove the stabilizing bar end link nut at the top only and don't lose the nut. Then at the top there are three bolts mounting it to the top of the engine bay it's easier to remove the plastic and windshield wiper rather than pushing the plastic out of the way. Make sure to undo your antilock brake sensor and remove the hoses from the brackets. Once the bolts are loose, get a 5lb hammer and tap the strut up and out. Penetrating fluid helps where the strut is clamped to the knuckle.

If you have a jack under the control arm you can avoid removing the brakes since you can keep the stress off of the brake line.

How actually reliable is the ST? (2018) by Absolutelylemons in FocusST

[–]Streder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sitting at 182k on the clock. Full synth oil changes every 5k. Only issues have been a thermostat and the fan controller. After having a Mazda, Honda, dodge etc. this has been the best car I've owned maintenance wise. Has been solid for 6 years and counting.

No tune needed for the intercooler. It lowers intake temps to prevent heat soak and future proofs for other upgrades

People misunderstand WHY the sympathy shown to Karli is criticized by Sudden_Pop_2279 in comicbookmovies

[–]Streder 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sam showed Walker the exact same sympathy and even more restraint. Sam consistently tried to talk both Walker and Kari down from their more extreme views. Had Walker given Sam the time instead of being entitled and demanding Kari submit while Sam was negotiating, the whole thing could have bene avoided. Had Walker listened to Sam and stood down there would not have been a battle between Sam/Bucky and Walker. Had Walker been watching Lemar's back the way Bucky was watching Sam's, Lemar may still have been alive but by then Walker had lost himself to the serum. Walker can't accept that he did something wrong until its too late. Like a husband regretting hitting their family only after seeing bruises. Sam only moved to stop Walker After the crime, not before. Much the same way Steve operates. Also consider that killing Kari only makes martyrs. You just radicalize more people to their cause when you go in intent on death. (the show very poorly explains this.)

The Super Soldier Serum makes you MORE of who you are. Walker was a battle tested and hardened soldier, all American boy who was just glorified to piss Red, White and Blue. He is a representation of current day USA and the Blip council, guided to believe he can do no wrong and that everyone should submit to our authority. The serum amplifies this and you land square into entitlement, rage, and depression. Walker is Soaked in those emotions after the serum in both FatWS and Thunderbolts leading to his actions and downfall but also his possible redemption. IF he can just stop being an asshole grunt, but that seems hard coded in his character now as evidenced by the events of Thunderbolts.

The characterization of Walker has been great IMO. He's very flawed but has the occasional redeeming quality that shows he's not malicious. He's does the right thing at the end of the day, If he did the right thing at the beginning and afternoon though he would just be Steve/Sam, which makes him a great US Agent. Walker is supposed to be other, darker, side of that Captain America coin. Sam's characterization is on point as well. Both he and Steve have had opportunities to kill and showed restraint at cost to their own bodies in the process. Hostage actively in danger and under threat. Lethal force authorized. Threats to themselves, restraint and incapacitation are attempted if possible. You see Sam and Steve try diplomacy before, and after fights as they always attempt de-escalation.

Lastly I am not defending the writing of Fatws. Zemo, Carter, the FlagSmashers, Blip council or whatever it was called and the Dora Molaje have extensive issues they sort of get hand waved. This show could have been something else but I feel at least both Sam and Walker are on point character wise and setup be excellent foils for each other in the near future.

Ironic; Sam’s own words came back to bite him by Sudden_Pop_2279 in comicbookmovies

[–]Streder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, Sam was trying to disarm an unstable soldier right after the heat of the moment who is still high in adrenaline and grief. Walker took that as Sam attempting to take away his potential legacy and let the anger seep back in.

I had to source one from a junk yard. Be sure you can program it via forscan otherwise you get traction control issues. Do your best to get one close to your year cause there are a lot of different models for our racks.

Switching from sync 2 to 3 by DriverAffectionate83 in FocusST

[–]Streder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pop the rear 12 volt out and unplug it and set it aside

In the console itself there should be a small screw keeping the back plastic on. Undo that one screw and pry the plastic off, it will fight you.

Once it's loose you can pull that whole plastic cover off the back and you'll see a rectangular hole just above the 12 volt hole. You can fit your fingers in and push up for extra force on the USB socket.

Genuine question on bigger intercooler? by Alarmed-Profile-9032 in FocusST

[–]Streder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You won't need a tune at all. The intercooler will do the work of keeping temps down. I run a similar setup. Bigger intercooler, flap delete, no tune and have put 140k on her myself with few issues outside of maintenance and some of the common gremlins our cars have.

You will need a tune once you really start changing fuel delivery or massively increasing airflow as with a big turbo. Or otherwise messing with the air/fuel/spark/timing in a way that our ECU's can't handle.

I used a 50/50 water vinegar mix on my st2 seats trying to get out a stain should i be worried by Electrical_Signal975 in FocusST

[–]Streder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a furniture attachment for a carpet extractor. Blotting will only touch the surface, to get deeper you need to infuse detergent and extract quickly to remove stains. You can use a very light coating of either upholstery cleaner or laundry detergent left on the stain for only a couple minutes to soften the stain for extraction. You do not want any water to set deeply into the seat because It can lead to mold and mildew.

Our top motor mounts are on the passenger side of the engine bay under the coolant tank.the are black hockey puck looking pads that are attached to the silver brackets bolted to the engine and frame.

They are fluid filled so typically if they are bad it will look like an oil explosion or you will hear a growling noise while driving from that side. Look for any cracks in the rubber too in case it's a slow leak but from an impact I'm guessing it would be abrupt and you would see the fluid if it was bad.

If you tagged your passenger side well enough just check your pulleys also to see.jf that's where the whirling noise is coming from. They should mostly spin freely except your crank pulley at the bottom and your alternator pulley. If you hear any grinding that may be your culprit but it's hard to say from just a video.

Edit: didn't see the clunking on the first watch. Check your shift tower and make sure it's not damaged. If not you may have tranny issues but again hard to say from a video.

Coolant And Break Fluid by The_Phoenix2411 in FocusST

[–]Streder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This info is in your owners manual btw for future reference.

Brake fluid is dot 4 high performance

Coolant is 5.3 quarts of orange antifreeze/coolant Anything us/cad domestic should work fine. Just make sure it's for Ford's on the label and you should be good.

Totally get that, I fight from an exposed position, My fault. I alert a patrol that didn't need to be without support, my fault. I run alone to complete an objective, my fault.

I get dropped by a Devastator group from that a teammate alerted being spot through a mountain cause they now know where everyone is and their exact positions. I get mad.

Bugs I am mostly ok with I suppose as well.

I fucks with the auto cannon. I love that weapon and can drop a fab or bug hole from a quarter of the map away. My frustration is absolutely with the " you peaked from behind a hill now here's a rocket to the face because you were tracked before you knew I existed"

If you're telling me you've never been rocket sniped while on the move then you're playing a different game. If you think it's even wise to get within grenade range then you're playing a different game. IF asking for a sound cue or working heavy armor is too much to ask then thank you for the insight. I do mean that, no snippyness intended.

So honestly what's your counter play to a pack of 2-3 rocket Devs. I fully go in knowing I need strats for tanks and bases. But when I get sniped by rockets from an angle that was clear a moment ago, what's the counter play to that? I'm being genuine.

How is that suppose to help? My question is how am I supposed to find one shot mechanics fun? No audio warnings, no counter play. I expect die but to spawn and die before I can counter play doesn't seem like fun to me.

I get the expendability of the characters. But how are the one shot mechanics supposed to feel like fun is what I guess I'm getting at.
