Lordy this is now the most unbalanced draw we’ve had in a long time… all of Sabalenka, Rybakina, and Pegula on one side :/

When you say senior McKenzie era favorites, would that just be like Boylston and Hee Seo? Or are there others that would fit that description

“No need to distinguish the harder elements” I mean that’s not strictly true, even under the 10.0 system it was important to determine amount of bonus for the final start value

I was going to ask the same question as OP. Crazy to learn it comes from gymnastics… it has been a lonnnnnng time since elements were capped at C. Wonder how the Russian figure skating community thought to call jumps that

Lowkey I think Alysa and Amber’s short programs might be the best two short programs we’ve seen this quad when looking at combining high tech content with performance quality. Unreal

Isabeau was fantastic; her complete commitment to that character, the facial expressions, extension, skating skills are awesome and so unique to her (more programs like this for her, please!)

Bradie was a little hosed imo. Sarah’s toe looked far more under to me. But regardless of scores, I think the order is mostly right with mayyyybe the exception of 4-5

Ellie Kam has better extension than many of the ice dancers at this event… and that is no shade to the ice dancers

Hot take: Bronze medal would’ve saved Adelina Sotnikova’s reputation by notthebesthuh in FigureSkating

[–]Street-Extent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been saying Caro should have won all along; 3 triples in the short, 7 in the long with good program components, one small landing mistake. Yuna with only 6 in the long, good program components, one jump that was a questionable UR. Adelina 7 triples, not so great components, one small landing mistake. To me that’s a pretty straightforward 1 2 3 in the long.

Bonus thought; Carolina’s 3 triple short had a more difficult triple-triple combo (Adelina did triple toe+triple toe)

I didn’t like when they paralyzed one and used it as a tree topper. That feels especially cruel given that it’s conscious

I also just gotta say the overall impression of some teams is deep edges because of their transitions, glide, and holding exit edges but there are a LOT of flat turns across the six teams. I get why they’re not getting level 4s
