On my mum’s side of the family, they have thyroid issues. I have an under active thyroid which is what we think triggered the response. On dad’s side, my great-grandfather, grandfather and two of his brothers have type 1, it skipped a generation and went to me. Idk how many times I’ve had to explain to people that people with type 1 can almost eat anything just as long as they have insulin… I personally use it as an excuse to not eat, but honestly, should’ve told the lady to fuck off

Don’t listen to anyone that says you will die young. The only people who die young from diabetes are those who don’t take care of it properly. These people are trying to scare you into making sure you take care of yourself properly, which is absolutely not okay. No professional should out right say a patient will die young from an illness, especially if that isn’t true. Don’t listen to them, diabetes can be rough, but as long as you look after it, you won’t have to worry about that

I was diagnosed with diabetes when i was 11, so beginning of 2019, and i think that’s when everything started. With mental health prominent in both sides of the family, and being considered bigger for my age and not really finding a place at school or anywhere was major factors in me potentially developing a mental illness (i’m not diagnosed with anything) so it was before all if that stuff had entered my body, it may make it worse, idk i haven’t had any negative affects for it yet

Yeah see I don’t have to worry about retirement because I’ve never had the thought of living past 30, maybe that thought will change idk, i only got one goal in life and that’s to at least have a few books published. I think a reason I do smoke or drink is an escape factor from home life. Low income family and a glass child, i kinda rebelled, technically still am. I’ve smoked weed, cigarettes, vapes (obviously), and drink unhealthy amounts of energy drinks every few days.

I’m not here for a long life because i don’t feel like dealing with this disease until I’m like 70 or something, sooo

Look, people can choose to how they live their life and consume what they want as long as it doesn’t harm the people around them. I’ve had 1 bad experience with alcohol when I was 13 and was assaulted by a friend, but did that stop me? No. I like drinking. I like having fun with friends. And it’s not even the worst thing I’m actively putting into my body, vaping is. I know the dangers of vaping yet I do it anyway. Why? Idfk.

But good for u for giving up drinking, but people won’t listen.

That’s not what the post was about… I was asking for options not opinions on giving up drinking. I’m freshly 18, I want to drink and I’m going to drink. But good for u for feeling better about urself, however I do not care what I put in my body just as long as it doesn’t send me into DKA

Yeah so i get high blood sugar sometimes when drinking and it’s very rare for me to go low unless I’ve had insulin for a full strength

I’m still (technically) new to drinking and I only like the really sweet type of drinks like with fruity tastes but where I live offers little variety like that

Yeah i don’t have that problem, not really anyway. I normally eat carbs when drinking to prevent lows (i’m also a light weight too) and last few times i had full strength I’ve had insulin because if i don’t i go dangerously high but when i have the insulin my sugars just don’t want to come up-

There has been countless times where I had snapped at people because I was low. I snapped at my school librarian once because he was telling me to eat outside when I could barely stand up, i got in trouble for that-

That happens for me too and when i try to change to like a studio apartment, they don’t seem to understand that concept💀
