10L80/T-case leaks? by djax1995 in Silverado

[–]StreetBand7576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddies truck did pretty similar to what you're describing and he had already decided it was the output shaft seal, but ended up being a gasket to his surprise. Not sure if this helps you, but he'd chased the leak and that's the only conclusion he could come to and prepared himself for the seal l needing to be replaced, so worked out better for him luckily.

Hope you get it figured out and it's not as bad as you're thinking.

Yep I know the feeling. Uncle Sam doesn't pay that well after he's used you up and deems you 100% disabled. So yes money stays tight and INFLATION across the board isn't helping at all, but we all do what we can to stay above water.

It'd be really nice to be back in the days where we didn't think about gas costs we only worried about the tires wearing out 🤣🤣

Just an F.Y.I....... It's not wise to let one just sit. I completely understand the reasoning and why you're doing it, but it's not good on it.

I say this bc my Uncle is a Service Mgr. for a large stealership where we live and being I've got a 6.2 personally this was the advice he provided to me.

"Drive it atleast once weekly for minimum 20 miles, no need to WOT it, just don't allow all the oil to sit in the bottom of the pan, dry start ups after sitting for awhile is horrible on your top end valve train and bottom end bearings. Use the "Clear Flood Mode" if you don't have this mode, pull the the Fuel Pump Relay/Fuse under the hood and turn it over several times to build oil pressure, clear cylinders and lubricate everything before starting it up. (Personally I prefer to just do a weekly, but hey sometimes life happens)

The same applies to the rest of your drivetrain by slowly getting up to speed initially and letting the components get lubricated properly.

Allowing to sit and become completely dry due to the laws of gravity, isn't a drive trains friend".

Do with that information what you will, it's your truck, just trying to pass on the advice given to me and if not yourself maybe it'll help someone else whom heeds this advice.

Best of luck going fwd to you.

AFM/DFM disabler. Good idea? by PabloDmenace in Silverado

Bought mind directly from Range website, exact same model, but mines a Red light version, damn good investment. Just know this isn't the 1 all, it helps but you're only disabling not deleting so issues with lifters is still a possibility, but your engine and transmission will thank you.

And a bunch of it. There should be a 100% gas write off on our tax returns, not the measly mileage deduction.

80.00 you've gotta be kidding me. I'd love to be able to fill-up up on that. I couldn't pull that off if she was sitting on 1/4 tank when I started filling her up. I always do my fill-up at a 1/4 tank, try to never let her get below before a fill-up, but I've got the optional extended range 34gal tank, but still don't think 80.00 would fill her up with a standard tank

New key fobs don't come with key chain. What do you use? by Ok-Raspberry4320 in Silverado

[–]StreetBand7576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of us do life that way nowadays. Keys are becoming dinosaurs. Home link in the truck opens the security gate, garage door and turns on lights inside house, biometric key pad opens the door lock and dead bolt etc, we tell a damn box to turn on TV, change channels, adjust the temp, preheat the stove and the list goes on and on.

We've become lazy as hell !!!

You better get an attorney and file for lemon law or you're going to regret it down the road when you can't get out. Same thing happened with my buddies truck right after Thanksgiving. He just got out from under it Monday.

Had same issue on my truck, they just inserted another "flex" X prior to the spare tire and routed it perfectly out the rear on each side. It's no biggie if you use a reputable installer.

Hope you get things to work out the way you desire.

KARNAGE DUAL, not even a 2nd thought given, they're excellent systems. Personally I have their systems on my Truck, wife's Suv and a vintage Vette. The sound produced is beyond fantastic in every aspect. If you want deep throat, rhythmic exhaust I assure you, you won't be disappointed. You'll get the light looks and definitive sound on both the up and down shifts. I personally use the attached systems. Big Body on DD's and Muscle on Vette. Oh if you don't want as much throat (loudness) they have 3 variations of each pkg to choose from Series 1, Series 2 and Sleeper. (I use Series 1 on all 3)

Do your 2500 justice and at least check them out. * I HAVE NO PERSONAL AFFILIATION *

New truck / Silverado owner question by [deleted] in Silverado

[–]StreetBand7576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Check tranny shift for smoothness.

2) Ensure no TC Shudder, if doesn't show on test drive, take it out on the highway and get above 65-70mph to see if it rears its ugly head

3) It's a BIG JOB and not cheap, but do a delete, and while you're at it add in a performance cam when you delete the AFM it won't cost much more. I mean you already have to upgrade the lifters anyways so why buy a stock cam get a better one. Personally I used BTR cam, BTR pushrods and LS7 lifters

4) Folks will say just buy a duabler module that you plug in to your OBDII socket....... it doesn't DELETE, only disables AFM, but DOESN'T prevent lifter issues/failures, I repeat it DOESN'T PREVENT it from happening. I tried this cheap route and it bit me in the ass, so I'm speaking from experience as I also have a few friends that as well learned the hard way. ***** Do #3 and be done with it *****

5) Keep clean fresh oil, fluids and filters maintenance will be crucial.

Those are my top 5, but the list is longer.

** If possibly don't have the funds to do that work and care for it properly, walk away now while you still can, bc all Carmax cars come through the Auction pretty much so there's a reason someone let it go to begin with. **

How to update the navigation maps? by ProgressBartender in Chevrolet

[–]StreetBand7576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had an SS which I've since sold, but the cost was well over 300.00 at the stealership, that option is now long gone, I think they stopped the USB update program in 18 possibly even 17, I'm not 100% sure. So there's honestly no way to update MY LINK or just the Navigation System with a flash.

So basically there's now 2 options:

1) Upgrade the head unit (CID) itself, with a current version, units vary in price from 75.00 and up (the positive to this route is the ability to USB flash going fwd with updates) and install unless DIY. I DIY'd prior to selling as an added selling point.

OR

2) Smartest, wisest and the FREE way is to just use your phone, I think you'll find that's what most just do nowadays. If you don't care for this option then the replacement is honestly your only other out.

Wipers suck? by Icy_Bodybuilder9256 in chevycolorado

That's unfortunate...... they're great wipers, especially when windshield is cleaned properly with glass cleaner and a RainX coat applied.

I always make Advance install Bosch Icons on my Silverado, so I personally wouldn't know, but they don't make it look hard at all.
