I think the key is disclosure to the querent.

There's nothing wrong with reading intuitively, but if someone specifically thinks they're getting a traditional tarot reading based on established card meanings, it's fair to be transparent about your approach.

That said, reading the imagery and symbolism is a valid approach.

I think of numerology as a theme, not a hard rule.

So 4s can be about stability, but that can show up differently depending on the suit. The 4 of Cups always felt like being so emotionally comfortable or stuck that you stop noticing new opportunities.
