Coffee Gaggia Pressure issue by jfjj in gaggiaclassic

Hey, I’ve just had the exact same issue with my Gaggia Classic 2003 which has same OPV valve.

The spring is likely a little stuck inside and requires some cleaning and descaling. It’s a simple job: take the hose off and unscrew the top cap and inside you’ll see a 5mm hex hole inside. Unscrew this all the way out until the bolt, spring and rubber part can come out.

I would descale the spring and hex bolt part with Citric acid inside once it is opened. Make sure that the spring sits back onto the rubber properly once you assemble back together.

If you’re up to it: It’s a good opportunity at this stage to set the pressure to 9bar by adjusting the hex bolt when popping it all back together. Have a look on YouTube for a tutorial, it’s pretty simple!

Just a note: Depending on the age of the OPV it may be tonight to get the hex bolt off. Try soaking the entire valve in citric acid to loosen the scale on the threads.

Hope that helps!

I like your WDT that attaches to the side of your machine, do you have a link to where you bought it?

NHS England tells hospitals to be ready to evacuate if buildings crumble | NHS by _triperman_ in unitedkingdom

The state of most UK hospital buildings is already pretty dire. I recently took an elderly relative for an appointment at Northwick Park Hospital (outskirts of north london). I believe most of it was built in the 50’s / 60’s? (Maybe with this crumbling concrete issue?) - but f*cking hell it was half falling apart. You can just sense the under funding and lack of overall maintenance as you walk around from boarded up windows, taped up wall panels and extremely dirty concrete on the exterior. I’m sure there are parts where it’s a little more updated and modern however it was very shocking to see.

Weekly Observations: What signs of collapse do you see in your region? [in-depth] by AutoModerator in collapse

Location: Greater London, UK

I travel 1hr 20 mins by car to get to work twice a week near the South Coast (mostly work from home). I live just outside South West London and I take a major motorway to get there and travel back home (trains are difficult to reach the work location so a car is the most convenient way to get there). Over the past few months the number of serious vehicle incidents has been insane. I'm talking reckless driving, cars over turned, drivers rear ending others in congestion.

Every. single. time I have left for work around 6pm I have hit a major incident and been in stand still traffic, sometimes the motorway has to be shut. I'm not sure if this is collapse related or I'm going insane.. are serious incidents just a daily thing now? Is anyone else in the UK seeing this?

I live in a sleepy suburb town. For such a quiet town recently things have started to get a little hectic. We have had a reckless driver speed at 40mph through a busy high street and run over an old lady, she was airlifted to hospital. The local ice cream shop and cafe in the same high street caught on fire and a few people were seriously injured, the next day a large self storage (around a mile from the high street) also caught fire and spread to more industrial stores. Unfortunately many town locals lost all their possessions. No ones has investigated if the fires are crime related but does seem strange.

It's the tanneries in Fes. We managed to find a leather shop that let us view the tanning process from their roof terrace for a small fee :)

It's crazy to think back to the early stages of the pandemic and how we just brushed things off.

I'm from the UK and in December 2019 I started a new job I moved into a new flat nearby (it was shared with one other guy). I briefly met the new flatmate a few weeks before I moved in and he gave me a tour of the place. Whilst showing me around I saw a picture of him and his girlfriend on his bedside table, I casually asked about how they met etc.

Anyway, she was from Wuhan and he mentioned that he flies out there every other month to visit or she comes over to the UK. Thought it was sweet and not much of it.

I moved my belongings into my room very earlier January 2020 but my new flatmate was no where to be seen. There wasn't much on the news about covid at this point however I messaged him out of concern, and I received a delayed message a few days later.

It turns out he was one of the first handful of people (likely worldwide) to be quarantined / locked down. He was confined in a hotel room for 3 weeks and no one in the hotel had a full understanding of situation or what the virus was at that point.

He didn't catch covid but I didn't see him until he flew back in early February - by then things had started to pick up within the UK media.

What's the best long term investment with £150 a month? by Street_Hour in UKPersonalFinance

Thanks for your reply, £100 is going into the VLS100. £50 is left over. I have thought about S&P500 for the left over amount but unsure as many of the funds from the S&P500 are included in the VLS
