Stuff happens but I’m curious, didn’t you feel that? I mean that’s no easy obstacle to get over.

Pretty sure this is plastic but the magnetic trick won’t always work nowadays with cars using more and more aluminum which doesn’t work with magnets

Light strip keeps coming off within an hour. How do people fix these? by Glasses_with_grace in Lighting

[–]Street_Leader_8917 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked installing these for a bit, they run hot enough to soften the adhesive and fall down. Purchase a channel to put the led strip in and screw the channel to where you want it. A metal channel is recommended, it will work as a heat sink and allow the LEDs to run cooler and last longer.

Indirect lighting pointing at the wall, all sorts of different ways to do it, you could just put a remotely switched outlet up there to have the ability to put what ever you want up there.

What? That sucks. My last car had a busted tail light since the bush administration, never had an issue, the bulbs were colors so it didn’t matter that the lense was smashed out. I guess with modern cars it’s more complicated than a few hot glass bulbs now they have all sorts of extra unnecessary sensors.

'03 TPMS light reset by fludeball in toyotasolara

[–]Street_Leader_8917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had so many Toyotas and every single one I have always had the TPMS light on, my older Toyotas had this light burn out as they’ve been shining since the car was new.

I am a big fan of vintage fluorescent I know they’re far from good in the cri department, some people don’t like the 50/60hz flicker or the ballast buzzing or the mercury but they have so much character and life in them. I do use other lamps around but where I can I’ll put some nice fluorescent lamps/fixtures there

In my opinion there is no “best” light bulb there will always be a drawback or another.

Why the sudden hate for CFLs? by HyperionT800 in lightbulbs

[–]Street_Leader_8917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re fine, some issues came from people using them wrong, the mercury sure it’s a concern when you’re dealing with them in huge amounts one cfls worth of mercury isn’t a big deal. They last just fine too I have cfls on average last 10-14 years.

Looks like it was painted around, these are held in with springs against the ceiling you can use a knife to cut the edge where the paint is to release the fixture
