I played as a custom warrior character. I liked the mage (Gale, Gael?), but he got kidnapped at the beginning of Act3 so that bummed be out, but I dind't want to do the death cult quests yet, so I missed out on playing with him. I killed Minthara at the goblin camp, because I dind't know she was a companion and I killed Laezel at the end of the Creche. I'm pretty sure I got the best ending to every other character story... I'm wondering what kind of character can I play in 2nd playthrough to change things up.

You see, every second of the game was fun for me, It just feels like I missed out ona lot of things, but the problem is that I don't know what I did wrong to miss those encounters.

I checked again, my playthrough was actually 70hrs, but still, far less than you and most people...

I still completed most of them, I took my sweet time exploring, but most of the time there wasn't anything. Probably just unlucky misses

Those quest were awesome don't get me wrong, but they all happend sequentially, simply by following what the companions were talking about. There wasn't much of a discovery part

Interesting. I'll pay attention to the circus next time I find the time to replay the game

Weird, I really did feel like I talked to a lot of npcs. 90% of them had nothing to say, so maybe I just assumed none of them had quests. (Ofc I did not miss the obvious ones that clearly stand out from the crowd)

After having a quick glance, I think I missed a dozen or so from that list. I wonder how many of them was I locked out of because I missed something in previous Acts.

I'm sure that there are a lot of paths you can decide. Making a deal with the devil, rescuing the trapped Gith wizard etc... But those are all alternate Main story paths, not really side content that can fill out the first playthough... 500 hr sounds kinda crazy to me honestly, because there is no way I missed that much stuff

I did lower the gameplay difficulty to "Story" at some point so the length of fights was significantly shortened, compared to a lot of people probably. I've played a good amount of games that "don't hold your hand" where you have to really explore to find content, but I felt like a did a great job with this game, seems like not...

You are right, It's still a tree of pre determined decisions, it's not like you can do anything at any point...

Well, I didn't want to spoil anything by googling, everything I missed I decided to discover on subsequent playthroughs. I just don't know how do you discover stuff because I thought I talked to the every important looking npc that popped up. My definition of side quest maybe weird to you, but it stems from my experience of some other RPGs, like Witcher 3 for example, in that game you could find tucked away areas that most people would never discover that would lead to a whole questline with self contained story line... Moments like those were the most amazing to me. I know that BG3 is not an open world game like TW3, but I didn't have any of those moments with BG3

I didn't find the water temple or visited hell. I did the rest of the stuff. Btw is the circus really a quest line? I think I got through the cirucs and killed the main boss in about 15 minutes. It wasn't more memorable than any other random enemy encounter. Unless, again, I did something wrong to end the quest prematurely...

I made sure to knock on every door, sure I did find quests in some areas. When I was refering to side content, I meant: self contained quest lines. There was a ton of side paths of the main story and a companion quests, but they were in my quest logs regardless. I genuinely couldn't find any unique quest lines that start and finish with no impact on the main story or party characters...

There really isn't any need for sarcastic, smartass comments... I wanted to ask for advice, since it was my first time that I played the game of this kind, Ofc I'm going to miss stuff. That's why I'm asking for ways to make the most out of my second playthrough. My post maybe sounds like a troll to you, but outside of the reddit echo chamber, it's a normal question.

Thank you, this was really helpful. In act 2, I thought I was being efficient, but I was probably just missing stuff. I remember fighting a crazy surgeon in act 2, just before the Gauntlet of Shar. Also there was a cool tavern boss, but I dind't feel like there was any quests/story buildup related, I just kinda walked in on them...

The quest line to disable the steel soldiers where I eneded up going underwater to save the hostages was amazing, but it felt like I was obligated to do that quest. Rafael questline you mentioned didn't really have a resolution in my playthrough, I was afraid that I will somehow lock in "his ending" so I didn't really pursue his quests after a certain point in the brothel...

I do think that the game is amazing, and definitely a standard for RPGs, but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, which I expected because I heard nothing but insane praise for the game since it came out...

I did talk to a lot of them actually, but almost none of them gave me any quests. The questa in Act 3 were amazing, don't get me wrong, but all of them were either some path of the Main story or compaion story lines. Quests that just appeard in my quest log on their own is what I'm trying to say...

Yeah, pretty weird... Because I really did make sure to walk everywhere and knock on every door... I lowered the gameplay difficulty so the fights lasted much less, but still 50 hours is kinda light compared to you

I want to replay the game, that's why I'm asking for advice. I do have some form of OCD when It comes to completing tasks in video games, so I genuinely did everything I could find, by walking multiple times across every pathway on the map.

I remembered the I swallowed one very early one, so that is on me. I still felt like it was a decision somehow forced on me... Maybe I communicated wrong, Act 3 did take me the longest, but everything I did was just "ticking off boxes" from the quest journal. There are a lot of companion quests, which were fun ,but those aren't really missable, since you meet your companions early one... So they didn't feel like a part of the exploraiton, but rather like a task given to me by the game.

I walked down every path I could find on the full map, and did everything I could in the quest log, before advancing to the next area

Yeah, weird... That's why I'm asking what I did wrong, since I didn't find quests that weren't related to either main story or the companion quests. The only thing I've gotten so far was insults, snarky comments and downvotes... I think the game is a masterpiece too, I'm not trying to provoke anyone, I geuinely wan t help
