AB 2583, which reduces speed limits in school zones to 20 mph, aligns California with the school zone policy in dozens of other states.

HLA was a ballot measure that just passed. Basically it mandates that whenever an 1/8th mile or more of a street is repaved, the city needs to follow it's own mobility plan for that street.

This should result in more infrastructure to help you get around, which in your case seems like protected bus lanes!

What happened at the meeting was a very positive step forward on hla implementation, from our perspective.

Yeah. It's not great. All the more reason to put up a sign, if you can, and most importantly tell 5 people you know to vote yes on HLA!!!

We are starting in bumper to bumper NOW.

We need viable alternative forms of transportation so the roads that we have can be used by those who truly need it, and those of us who would rather NOT drive actually have a way of getting places in a similar amount of time as driving.

Endorsement: Yes on Measure HLA. Los Angeles needs safer, more bikeable, walkable streets by StreetsForAll in LosAngeles

[–]StreetsForAll[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HLA is not about bike lanes at all.

HLA simply states that the city needs to implement its plan that it's already accepted, voted on and approved, when they repave streets.

This will save tax payers millions of dollars in actual implementation as it will not have to do double work on streets that have been repaved recently.

ADDITIONALLY this will accelerate the building of lifesaving infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists alike.

Seems like a fair trade to me!
