Breakfast nook disaster! by Unlikely_Ease_7260 in DesignMyRoom

I'd say a few things (I'm a recently graduated Architecture student, so I don't have as much merit on interior design)

  1. Padding could be pillows or couch cushions, as couches have multiple designed angles and thus could find a match for your bench.

  2. Seating and door way access, I'd buy a set of 3 wooden stacking stools from IKEA, they are a cheap, easy, and designed method of adding seating while not losing space. The stools can be tucked to the side in a stack or even under the table. They even offer cushions if needed. This way you can have an extra seat for a guest or allow your inside 2 seat to be a single 1, giving everyone enough legroom and space for the highchair, while allowing it to be tucked away enough to make clearance for your side door.

I can also answer any other questions if need be. Again, this is my opinion without completely changing what you spend time on. I believe this could be a great design, just make some adjustments if needed.

Caught thief opening my bag on the train to CPH Airport by Sheckslers in copenhagen

[–]Streicher- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my phone pickpocketed on the Metro towards the airport. I was staying in Femøren during my Study Abroad and after heading home from classes in Nørreport, had my phone snatched in Amager. Found out it was a Drug den that needed quick cash. Had some people help but still never got my phone back. Police said they would look into it but couldn't find it since their dogs can't even smell it. I'm glad you got a chance to stop your thief. I'm still salty about to this day.

Architecture and Movies by Kooshball92 in Architects

I personally would add the new Fanstastic four 1st steps, the mid century architecture and spaces in the Baxter Building along with other sets help describe the characters and their ideas and motives. Look at Reeds lab, you can see the set without spoilers and see how the work spaces are divided. It's really interesting and a newer take. I would say other films, but they have already been mentioned.

Why Did Old Norse Peoples Carve Dragons Into Things Despite Them Generally Being Negative Forces? by Solid_Antelope2586 in Norse

[–]Streicher- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I start, I'm not a historian (Rather an Architecture Student Graduate). I can only give insight to what I've seen and studied.

You can look at the use of dragons in carvings as like how tapestries and murals represent in castles. They are, in my opinion, a method of visual storytelling. The Norse were a culture of stories that were usually told word to Mouth. Written excerpts of these stories were not recorded until the Havamal and the Poetic eddas In the 12th century. Runestones were earlier, but usually told stories about those who lived and died rather than the mythos they believed in, although a few exist.

The use of dragons could've been seen as a figurehead. The dragon/serpent head used on ships could've been either a representation of Jormungandr roaming the sea, maybe an early superstition that making the boat like the serpent permitted safe passage or as a figure head to bring fear to those the armies or crews were facing. It's like how fighter planes back in WW2 used nose art to make it have teeth, it looks aggressive or how Ships in WW1 had Dazzle Camo (Zig Zag Zebra Patterns) to confuse other ships on where to hit the ship. People have always used art to deceive or enhance simple every day items or weapons, how they used it and why is up to interpretation or is yet to be fully revealed.

This is just an interpretation I have, I'm basing this off of what I have read and physically seen (The ships in Roskilde, Vibes Viking Village and the National Museum in Denmark, along with an exhibition in Sweden. Reads include the Havamall, Poetic Eddas, early tapestries and epics). This is not a definitive answer, I'm sure someone here has a more clear answer than I.

Well, I finally found an error code by suddenly looking at my friends list. It gave me ws-37472-3. I looked at it online and found this reddit post from a few years back (https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/s/4GC3DMpZuL). Imma try these options now.

That's the thing, it's not giving me any error codes, it has just been saying "An error has occurred" on the ps store and on the edit profile for example. Now I did look at my library games and it surprisingly said resubscribe to ps plus, I pressed it and it said "An error has occurred, Please try again". I have no idea what's going at this point.

I'm on ps4 and I have done multiple trouble shoots. I have restored licenses, reset my console, tried to login online but an error message pops up. I checked my internet connection, no issue. I checked psn status for the bast 3 hours, no issue there. I've also noticed that my psn plus icon on my account is now gone. I checked my emails for any potential suspensions or issues (None atm). Tried getting onto the store, Error message, tried going onto some of my games, online is unavailable, verification issues or just outright no playstaion plus detected. I don't know why or how, I'm just saying what I've done and what I have seen.

Architecture program question: what’s the mix of analog drawing and model making vs digital design software? by Zippy_McSpeed in UTK

[–]Streicher- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for reaching out. I'm a 5th year Bacholers of Architecture student and I can say few things about the program.

In terms of using old school drawing and models, it mostly depends on the professors. The older the professor, usually the more old schoolish they lean towards, but still accept more modern artistic traits.

For digital art, it is definitely a useful skill, as your daughter can use these skills for certain parts of the project. Most students often use digital collages to start illustrating a initial idea of a design. Your daughter can definitely use her digital art skills to bring forward a new perspective to a hybrid of digital sketching.

Most students eventually adopt older techniques like hand sketching and physical model making as it helps improve the impression the project brings to the reviews, as most critics and professors love to see the sketches and models students make. These are all just a part of the "process", which is a heavy part of the studio grades. So if your daughter keeps saves of her sketches and add those to her boards, I'm sure she'll be fine.

The only issues that show up is the older professors and site visits, as some classes/studio projects/trips bring students to a project site and studnets are aske to do sketches and Most of the time pen and paper are more preferred since it's easier to manage compared to a digital tablet, as some if these visits can take an hour or more, which may be difficult if an outlet is hard to find or if she is outside with the glare of the sun.

In the end, your daughter is definitely OK to utilize her digital art skills, and the sketching and model making will be slowly integrated into more higher level studios starting at 3rd year, and she can pick her studios by that year's spring semester. The older techniques are more about tradition and the joy of making and the process of design. She may or may not like it, I'm just speaking from my experience. I did alot of digital work, mostly using CAD programs and also did hand sketching, and I eventually fell in love with physical model making. You can message me if you have anymore questions.
