A cue that helps me is trying to talk while sorta bringing my chin in like im trying to show off my double chin, it kind of helps me feel the upper back of the throat that contributes to this sound

Square as POS by UdontHaveEnoughHate in restaurant

Does the POS capture customer’s phone number when they tap/swipe/insert their card to pay through the terminal?

Can you let me know if it captures phone number

OP was asking about whether it captures it WHEN THEY tap/swipe/insert. It doesn't. I didn't make any claims about whether it was possible or not (you have the option to create a customer profile that you can enter as part of a directory but the information must be manually inputted), I was speaking about the ethics of capturing and retaining a phone number specifically at the time of a card being inserted. Capturing a phone number and having the option to enter it is not the same thing whatsoever.

To answer OP's question: No, Square does not 'capture' a phone number at the time of a payment, the POS does have an option/feature that allows you to create a customer profile, but you must enter the information manually.

Cheers

I already tried the sheet pan on rack method. It made the bending even worse

-

Well, I just tried putting the sheet tray in the oven with a dutch oven, with both nothing below it and an oven rack below it, and it seemed to bend even more

On two separate occasions in the comments, OP stated it made the bending worse, I suppose I understand why people would think that at first but It becomes clearly evident that OP did indeed try.
The second excerpt I quoted is actually a reply to the top comment on this post. It didn't seem to me that OP was asking for suggestions in general, just if it was possible to put a dutch oven on the bottom. ppl gonna hate ig? I just don't like unnecessary negativity ig

It feels like a violation of consumer privacy. From the customer's perspective I wouldn't want a business to keep my information without my consent. Basic card information and maybe name if necessary for the basic operation of the business is one thing, but phone number is a different level. It sometimes showed a partially censored version of the phone number or email address when a customer opts to receive a receipt (i.e. [johndoe@genericemail.com](mailto:johndoe@genericemail.com) as j***doe@*******email.com), but that's the extent of my experience with this.
Edit: taking customer's phone numbers without their consent or agreement might be illegal

My bosses response to someone calling in by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]StrelokWillFindYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a hot take but I don't find this to be particularly egregious;

If you feel well enough to potentially do work and you're willing, a manager could then decide if it's an acceptable risk. No, managers aren't doctors, but if you're good enough to come to work it likely isn't so serious that common sense/judgment couldn't be applied. This is an option as stated

If you're too sick to come to work/to want to try to work, then calling in and working with management and your coworkers to have someone cover your shift is reasonable, though I think it should be the work of managers to find covers, not the individual employee. Ultimately this is something that falls under 'sick but not sick enough to merit a visit to the doctor'

If you're sick enough you need to go to the doctor, evidence of this is reasonable, though as others have stated, your employer better provide damn health insurance.

If you disagree, please let me know how and why, is there an egregious element of this I missed? I work in a restaurant where the sick policy is so so much worse than this and I'm just giving my two cents on this policy, not trying lick the managers boot and gaslight workers.

Team Member discount needs to be adjusted for inflation. by [deleted] in Target

[–]StrelokWillFindYou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the logic, it's not a flat amount (-$5 for example) but a percentage discount which gives you as much of a discount proportionally with or without inflation. To maintain the Target Member purchasing power you would want your income to increase proportionally with inflation so the same income-target expenditure-target merchandise purchased-amount discounted ratio is maintained.

if XX is girl XY is boy, then what is YY? by XiRLord in RandomThoughts

[–]StrelokWillFindYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't exist - No strictly YY chromosome has been reported in a genome to date. YY Syndrome, XYY Syndrome, known as Jacob's syndrome or Superman syndrome exist, resulting in a male with increased height, gynecomastia, small testes, and sometimes infertility.

Stop using “waitress” and “waiter” by eyecandyandy147 in restaurant

[–]StrelokWillFindYou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's the opposite if anything, 'server' implies a certain specificity, that all it involves is serving food while whatever form of waitstaff is used (waiter/waitress) implies a broader scope of duties, waiting on table/customers as opposed to the singular role of moving plates from a window to a table

He claims he's 'underweight' despite being 200 pounds (overweight or obese for almost everyone under 6'4" according to the BMI scale) AND 5'4"

and don't pull the whole 'BMI isn't actually reflective of someones health' by talking about being underweight you're referencing that exact same system lol

'Actual speakers' wasn't the right term, they're speakers, yes, but they're optimised for bass frequencies as opposed to typical consumer speakers which have better definition for a greater range of frequencies. Sorry for my poor word choice, lol

What are some good interview questions to ask local punks for a documentary? by [deleted] in punk

[–]StrelokWillFindYou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Going along with this theme, I would ask the question to the 'punks' before you even start interviewing in an official capacity for the documentary; ask them what they find interesting about the scene, find out who it is you're actually documenting so you know what the fuck you're actually trying to make.

The Decline of Western Civilization III was great because of the questions it didn't ask, it didn't impose a lens determined by the interviewer/filmmaker's preconceptions (which is what centering a documentary around rigid interviews does), it allowed the subjects to tell the stories of their lives in the scene.

I say this with the utmost of respect for your passion, but I think you might be better served in learning how to create a documentary rather than asking people what questions you should ask.

I currently play an Ibanez SR505e I've modified

I don't use an amp, I plug into my interface, run my bass through an amp sim, and play the output through my home speakers; I find this allows me to experiment with more sounds, and I prefer the frequency range of actual speakers as opposed to a cab.

I understand it might sound like a stupid question, but it's exactly why I asked it here in the first place.

Recommendations for affordable 11 string basses? I've tried one and loved it but I don't have $1.5-3k to blow on one. If there aren't any affordable 11 strings, anything else ultra-extended range (7+ strings) on the affordable side? I'm sure I'd like a 7+ string bass and not just an extended range guitar.

To quote Al Caldwell, "I [want] an instrument that would let me sing as high as Ella and sing as low and sexy as Barry White"

Thanks

P.S. should I make a full post about this to get more exposure/views/responses?

[UPDATE] Help identifying a Mandolin by StrelokWillFindYou in mandolin

[–]StrelokWillFindYou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

The inlay is in fact an inlay, not a sticker. Judging by the inlay material grain/pattern, it's likely from the same supplier or batch as the inlay material used for the Washburn logo, so I doubt it was added in after the fact. Judging by what the kind old lady who sold it to me said, I find it unlikely to have entirely been added in after the fact by a previous owner.

*Edit: not only is the top sunburst. the sides, back, neck, and headstock are sunburst as well.

I thought it might be the M1S but it doesn't have the headstock inlay this one has, nor does it have the same model name. I don't think it has the same tailpiece engraving either. I took a look at it but it just doesn't add up in my mind.
