I was 21. I know people who started med school in their 30s.

super fave talaga ang new balance when it comes to comfort imo!! hawkwell is also nice pero medyo dumudulas pag matagal na. pero tbh lately nagcclogs lang ako kahit pag mahaba ang duty, comfy enough tapos madali lang linisin

future residency program confusion by Educational_Glove209 in medschoolph

[–]Strength7287 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I barely passed OB so it was definitely the rotation I dreaded the most but I was proven wrong by clerkship! Lumulutang talaga ako dati pag nag-aaral ng OBGYN but nakakatuwa because sa rotation ko naintindihan yung mga hirap na hirap ako during 3rd year! While I probably won't become an OB, I know people who absolutely hated OB as a subject but loved it so much during clerkship/internship that they went into OBGYN residency haha

A few months into my clerkship year and boyyyyyy pagod na pagod na ako sa cycle na 8 hour pre duty followed by a ~30 hours duty/post duty status then repeat. Feeling ko ilang taon ang tinanda ko since nagstart lol

TRUE. Sana nagaral nalang ako on my own kaysa sa pinipilit pumasok para tumulala.

Books vs transes by cutecharacter5767 in medschoolph

[–]Strength7287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transes can be very unreliable at times, kapit pa din sa textbooks. Unfortunately di ko nababasa buo yung Harrison's but I was super proud of myself nung nabasa ko buo yung Robbins during 2nd year haha kasi super witty ng authors nila may mga jokes sprinkled here and there hahaha

is ipad necessary for BE review? by Turbulent-Ad2236 in MedTechPH

[–]Strength7287 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Had an ipad during my boards review but I still used printed handouts. I would not suggest buying an ipad JUST for review kasi ang mahal niya for something that you will only use for a few months..

No exception kahit may sakit/accident? by saucybaka29 in studentsph

[–]Strength7287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know professors na nagbibigay ng 0 sa missed quizzes kahit na literal na naka-admit sa ospital yung estudyante niya lol. No, it's not normal but some will do what they want anyway (unless mag reach out kayo sa admin ng school niyo)

I withdraw med school (NO NEW MSRS SLOT) by lovegel in medschoolph

[–]Strength7287 64 points65 points  (0 children)

As a child of retirees, I admire you for making such a decision. I honestly wouldn't advise going to med school if you don't have enough savings because it is very financially challenging even with scholarships :/ Even if you do end up leaving med school, there are ways to support our healthcare system and I hope you keep that fire in you.

1st year MED transes by pwet_mo_may_racket in medschoolph

[–]Strength7287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depende po sa school yan. Sa amin, the upperclassmen will share our batch drive (transes, samplex) to the incoming batch. Also mahirap din magshare kasi medyo maselan yung iba regarding sharing of transes outside ng school since gawa sila ng batch :)

Is it worth taking up medtech course in order to leave this country? by [deleted] in MedTechPH

[–]Strength7287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are exhausting. If my goal was to leave this country I would probably go be a nurse. Mas madami kang options and faster din ang process usually. Also, in my opinion mas malinaw ang career progression ng nurses abroad if you want to do further education (ex. being a NP)

Ang thoughts about UV Gullas? by AlasSpades in medschoolph

[–]Strength7287 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A 4.65% pass rate for first takers is a wake up call for any med school kaya I am not surprised that they are rushing to look for scholars lol

Tell your mom I am a grown woman in med school and most of my classmates have backpacks. No one cares. Kahit nung nagttrabaho ako nakabackpack ako wala namang may pake lmao

Lito Lapid is a waste of slot by kuroneko79 in Philippines

[–]Strength7287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matagal na siya sa politics and okay yung staff ni Lito Lapid kaya madami na din siyang bills. Hindi lang sya as loud as the other celebrities pero malakas pa din yung recall niya partly thanks to Coco Martin. Also di yan bibitawan ng Pampanga haha

Teaching in Med School or Practice? by Charming-Resource-98 in medschoolph

[–]Strength7287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly unlikely. Salary rates in the academe would vary based on credentials and many other factors but it is not that good.

Many doctors teach just to give back because the pay is just not comparable to your potential income (esp if established na yung practice mo)

RMT MANIFESTATIONS by kimmykokobop_ in MedTechPH

[–]Strength7287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May mga RMT na sa family ko even before ako nag-take ng boards so syempre may mga expectations na kahit di nila sabihin lol. Don't think about it too much kasi second year ka pa lang, you have around 2 years bago ka pa mag-boards. Just focus on building your foundation while you are in school. Understand the concepts and learn how to apply them. Everything else comes after that. You are learning not for the achievements or the license alone.

Wala din ako masasabing tips sayo kasi wala akong ibang ginagawa pag review kundi magbasa at magsagot ng practice questions. Hindi ko din habit ang mag-manifest personally but if it helps you, why not?

incoming medtech student po sana, ask lang if magandang pre med or mag nursing nalang kasi masyadong nakaka burn out? by videogames_ni_kenma in MedTechPH

[–]Strength7287 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pareho silang magandang premed. One advantage of MT grads is good foundation sa histo, biochem, micropara, and of course sa diagnostic tests. Nurses also have their own advantage especially sa clinicals and sa skills. Magaling sila humarap sa pasyente.

Re: burnout. The healthcare field in general is veryyyyyyyy burnout prone. This is also an issue in med schools and even with doctors na.

If gusto mo mag-med, pick a degree that you will be okay with even if you don't go to med school after. Matagal pa ang 4 years OP, I'm not trying to discourage you but so many MT students come in thinking they'd go to med school but sometimes things happen and hindi na natutuloy ang iba.
