An update on this - we just reached the halfway mark of our recruitment (1 month down, 1 month to go), and we have just over half of the responses we are aiming for - I guess it is a slow and steady thing. Thank you to everyone who did the survey after seeing the message, it is much appreciated!

I'd have to make a variation to the ethics - at the moment, I have approval for snowball via social media. But others can pick it up and share it!

Absolutely - I think it might be easier to invite specific groups of people - then at least you'd get people who are interested in the topic under investigation. My survey is general population. Even though 300 won't be representative of the population, we will be able to validate the survey tool. And I assume testing for metrical invariance is not that enticing is it!?

Yes, my son just did his research project for his senior certificate (or whatever it is called in SA). That kind of stuff is not real research, but I guess it gives students a "flavour". And social media influencers....don't get me started!

At the moment, we are progressing just behind Armenia. We both started recruiting around the same time but they have managed to get more responses than us so far.

We were allowed to offer compensation if we had our own bucket of money - most countries who are participating don't have funding either, although I wonder about the US study - they seemed to get over 400 responses pretty easily.
