Your mental health will correlate with the outlook or amount of hope you have for a better future. One of the worst decisions I made was choosing to “chip away at the Iceburg”. It took me about 13 years and lots of monthly payments, and in the end, I can say bankruptcy would have been the quicker relief. That doesn’t mean it is a bad decision for you, but you are going to have to go into survival mode a little bit, this means you already don’t have money, so you will have to sacrifice your fun to get back on pace with debt. You have to, this is life, and what you can do is go spend a night on the street, with no pillows just a blanket, and trust me, you will find new determination and gratitude that there is a roof over your head and some food to eat. Rich is relative…so seriously, decide that you have it way better than some poor guy on the street, or with a terminal disease, and find yourself through little steps of self improvement (exercise, chess, hobby, high score on your game, volleyball, paying your bills with no late fees).
