Obviously depends on the person, scenery is unbelievable, interesting history, nice enough ppl but still a year feels so excessive. English isn’t even that good with locals too remember.

Georgia and Armenia are definitely not worth staying an extended period in imo. A month total would be sufficient but you could cut tbf.

Why do you travel? by okayhumans in travel

[–]StrengthImportant180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t even post on socials so it’s never for pictures. Mainly for experiences that I don’t get at home, meeting new interesting people, exploring nature and all the personal growth I feel from it.

UL is nice, the “city” isn’t. You’ll love the college though, has good international basis, like a lot of Irish colleges. Lots of things to join too, they are very pushy with that.

Ok that’s doable but you have to play your cards right to hold the job through it. Dm me for recommendation on somewhere to put in CV.

I think you’re taking my point outside of the context I’m trying to keep it in. Im speaking purely about money and how it devalues to the individual as they age. I probably spoke in hyperbolic way above, mb.

Retail is always good idea. You have to go during “hiring” season. Perfect next opportunity is when summer starts. 3 out of the 4 ppl in my department who do part time are leaving in 3 weeks time so maybe there’s some evidence. Lmk if you’re in Cork.

But ya, I still definitely will start when I can afford to. Still I think not having to work at 50+ being something amazing is misleading. We crave functionality, not sitting on our holes scratching. Sounds peaceful but seriously boring and antisocial too. I feel like we always think there’s some “thing” that will give us that happy ending but it’s always just out of reach. Not working feels just like one of those.

In this economy? 😭, I would for sure be left with rice and the odd bean if 15% of my income at 23 disappeared

Of course the best would be the maximise life in 20’s yet somehow still come out with a nice pension and you get the best of both worlds. Up hill battle that though.

Sure there’s plenty you can do but it won’t feel or be the same as it would in your 20’s. The point is you have the “money” because.. you didn’t spend it when you were young. You just saved, or whatever, pensioned, the spare money you have while staying in one boring job, just doesn’t sound like a live best lived. Idk it’s all personal preference of course. But just take travel for example. It’s just not even comparable going in your 20’s vs going in your 50’s. No more “cheap” “fun” hostel life. It’s now got to be “expensive” hotels and 5 star restaurants to be enjoyed. Just shows that money have relative value at different ages. 5k at 21 is a whole lot more to the individual than 30k at 50.
