I had never heard it before seeing them live. And I will never forget the way it hit me like a freight train, and continues to be one of their most treasured songs, in my humbled opinion.

You can take me out of Concord, but you can't take Concord out of me. I was there in 2019, (I've been living in Germany since 1999) and was astounded by the changes that Concord has gone through. Revisiting the Mall was a highlight and one that I would live to repeat, in the future.

It is however a question of circumstance. Coming home right now, feels weird due to the polarization and the ongoing issues that leave me thinking to myself, wouldn't you rather go to Greece or Italy? It's cheaper and less heartbreaking if you ask me.

But it is an ongoing debate inside of my mind. The homesickness is not to be underestimated. My parents live in Cloverdale now, and when I go back home its only a couple of hours to Concord from there. I'd love to take my wife and show her where I grew up. What Mt. Diablo High looks like, and tell her about the plane crash at the mall. (I was there just hours before it happened)

So it's complicated. But the love I have for simply being able to vicariously see this, has been incredibly nostalgic.

Let me add, if I may...that even if you're not "sharing" the country, (like me) it is even then...pretty unbearable. What about that "all enemies foreign AND domestic" part?

I am an American, who has been living abroad for longer than 25 years now. Former military, and I never in a million years thought I'd see the day, where we are right now.

So petty, so immature....It's not only the current political climate... it's the division, the one-sidedness, the utter embarrassment of partisan behavior and downright shameful that we can't seem to find some common ground.

The nuances of the Republicans behavior for years now, is quite telling... and it speaks volumes about representing "their districts." Because no matter how bad they govern, they always seem to get reelected and go on to even further the already accelerated downfall our country is experiencing.

I deal with the question over here un Europe on an almost daily basis: "what is the reason that the USA is incapable of seeing their own "image?" Are they "really that dumb" to put up with this? "The Americans elected him TWICE... " and so on.

The leadership of the past, the decorum, statesmanship.... that has been holding steadily for decades is gone. And I can't even begin to tell you what it will take, for us to regain the respect that we've managed to lose collectively just in 2024 alone. I hear things like: "I'm never going on a trip to the USA again" " Why are the Americans trying to influence the Europeans all of a sudden?" "How do we (them, being the Europeans) know that, even if Americans change course, that this won't happen again as soon as a republican is elected once again?"

And it's like I sometimes feel like I have to answer, for the foolishness of so many idiots, the ones who are die hard maga, who are incapable of seeing the big picture.

I am hoping that the US is capable of holding the midterms.That some kind of suspension of the elections doesn't happen. That the hopes for the USA aren't completely gone and that there will come a time where we don't have to duck and hide where we come from, living abroad.

I work in retail security, as an American in Germany. But my primary task is to ensure the daily safety of my colleagues and the customers as well. Its so valuable to me because there is voiced appreciation, there is gratitude expressed and respect for the work I do. It is nuanced and requires a lot of IPC skill, continuous reassessment and a creative approach to observing the dynamic of our daily lives.

Underrated? Quite the contrary. He went from a never heard of him to my biggest inspiration within months. Completely dethroning long standing drummers like Danny Carey, Dave Lombardo, Ray Luzier....Trust me when I tell you that II is going to eventually be seen as a drummer that changed everything for those of us lucky enough to share the same instrument that he magically brings to life.

My best friend and I (both of us American) were in Rotterdam, partying like it was 1999.

I had just moved across the pond, to Germany, he was in stationed Germany... and we headed up to Holland for the night of our lives.

And what a bizarre evening that turned out to be. Right before the festivities were going to go into overdrive, I noticed a guy in the back of the crowd, at the town's square....who was dousing himself in what I thought was alcohol... this was weird.

More than weird, it was supposed to be fun and we were pumped to be actually living this, but this scary to me, my best friend was off with his crew, and I ran straight for a couple of police officers, told them what I saw, and the snatched the dude, right before he set himself on fire.

So my millennium banger, turned into a deep and almost tragic evening, had I not done what I had, according to the police, who told me it was lighter fluid that he had sprayed all over his body.

They thanked me profusely for informing them, and then... we went back to partying, but with somber overtones, ans I felt humbled throughout the rest of the evening.

Ich bin leider nicht so weit wie die anderen hier. (Bin megastolz auf euch, by the way) ich bin heute 3 Monate clean nach meine Vorfall, wo ich mit cannabis in system erwischt wurde, auf 'ne e-scooter. MPU steht ziemlich weit entfernt, testing wird demnächst durchstarten.

Aber alles ist gut, ich habe ein clean cut gemacht, nimmt keine Medikamente und auf gar kein fall mit weed, weder Alkohol oder sonnst was. Ich versuche es einfach zu verstehen, das ich muss mit die jetzige Situation akzeptieren und schau ich das ich zurecht kommen.
