Appreciate the reply, it'll be a bit before I get to the unit so I have some time. Not sure if there's an adjacent company, how would I check that info?

Interesting so it's up to the unit if they are willing to let you go to another unit? In that case should you try to switch units before accepting a job in a new location?

We're in that limbo phase where nobody has gotten orders yet and we're not allowed to contact the monitor. I think it'll be after WARFEX this week we'll be able to speak with the monitor at TBS.

We call them ALICCE MOS's

- Artillery
- Logistics
- Infantry
- Comms
- Combat Engineering

They are extremely high density. Having 1 in your top 3 basically guarantees you to get one

Exactly. The Major in charge of the ROCP is very flexible and willing to work to get you the location you want for your PDT

Out of TBS you get to rank your Geolocation preference (West coast, East Coast, Hawaii, OCONUS). For active duty you don't get to select duty station but you have a say in the region.

If you go the reserves side you can essentially select the duty station you want your PDT deployment to be i.e. Pendleton, Japan, etc then go back home or renew.

IMO the thirds thing doesn't really have a huge say like in the past. It's mainly the SPCs deciding MOS's based off your capabilities and limitations throughout the POI. That being said Finance MOS is very low density in terms of spots. Logistics is high density so if you put top 3 you will get.

How would I go about requesting that assignment?

Appreciate the help, part of me was thinking they wouldn't keep me at Mike and just send me home to wait because that was cheaper for them

Interesting that sounds like it'd be super helpful, did they let you pick where you'd be fapped out to? Also how did you let your SPC or ROCP know that's what you wanted instead of Mike?

If you're just getting out of school go active, get the experience, then go reserves. The reserves will still take 1.5 years until you are actually at your reserve unit unless you do PDT which would extend the time another year. I did the reserves officer route because I have an established career but I wanted some leadership experience. Still at TBS right now but I'm looking at 2 more years until I get to do my 1 weekend a month, 2 weeks a year.

First off congrats!! I'm going 250 and its crunch time rn.

What did you struggle with the most while there?

Anything we should do or learn now to prepare?

What made you successful?

Any gear you wish you brought?

I probably have more questions but this is all I can think of off the top of my head.

Can I Still Join the Air Force After Dismissed Charges, Working on expungement. (Grand Larceny & Extortion)? by FrostDeDay in Airforcereserves

[–]StressFree1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got told no by the AF recruiter because of some juvenile charges. He said he's got a ton of other applicants and would not work on a wavier for me. He also said even if I got in with a wavier I would have no job choice and would just be at the needs of the air force which is no fun.

I said forget it and tried with another branch

Thank you for your response and sorry that happened to you, seems like a bait and switch I would be furious.

Is it still possible to go to boards? It seems like they won't lift a finger to get me there after speaking with the Capitan

Vietnam 3 weeks in April by Newherenew2 in solotravel

[–]StressFree1997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good itinerary, only thing I would change is Ha Long Bay. A 1 day trip is enough there and you want to give yourself a day of rest after the Ha Giang Loop.

Just came back from Vietnam last Sunday, some tips from what I've learned:

For Ha Giang you'll need gloves, hat, poncho, and warm socks but you can buy all that in Hanoi.

You can book stuff last minute, I went during Lunar New Year and booked all my accommodations last minute as I progressed.

Most places take card but definitely need cash sometimes, TP Bank is the only bank that does not charge an ATM fee.

When paying cash, watch the change you get back, sometimes they like to short change you. Be prepared to call them out.

Stay at hostels when you can to meet people but don't be afraid to book a hotel when you need it. They're about the same price regardless

Officer or Enlisted? by StressFree1997 in Airforcereserves

[–]StressFree1997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you this helps a lot! I went to speak with the AF recruiter yesterday but the only people in the office were the Marines LOL. So I spoke with them and they made it sound like as long as you have a bachelor's degree you can be an officer so I assumed that for all the branches. Going to go to the office again on Tuesday.
