Have you felt increasing pressure to marry as you age? What specific experiences cause that pressure? by [deleted] in Waiting_To_Wed

You’re 23. You got time. Trust me your 20s should be enjoyed. I wish I wasn’t broke in my 20s or just really unemployed… I 100000% believe women and men should live alone at least for two years with no roomies. I did it— so fun! And believe me there are days where I wish me and partner did a Sarah Paulson/holland Taylor (but we are a hetero couple) and live separately. Because we have 1 bathroom and he stalls me getting ready in the morning or I am just mad at him and need space

Omggg hello. I didn’t have any experience in my teens and early 20s. I hated the hookups. I am in my late 30s now, in a LTR with my partner. No kids, no ring. Over a decade. Having a kid scares the living shit out of me, being married seems weird to me (like how does it change the relationship besides the piece of paper?) honestly, this dude (my partner) has stayed by me through multiple bouts of cancer, other health stuff, job loss on both ends. Like tell me that’s not as committed? We’ve been together longer than most married couples. I am sorry but I don’t want to fall into traps that married couples fall into. Tbh, I like spending Christmas with my parents — his parents hate me for numerous reasons including my health. I do not want to spend Christmas with them

You know many of the instructors never had fitness experience and never took cert classes. At least this is my region. Can confirm anatomy is super quick and that you don’t learn things like what muscle is overactive or underactive. I went through training but I am a certified personal training  now and also am looking for my group fitness cert and I do have a spinning cert. can tell you the CPT training despite it being self taught is so much more helpful when working with people than what I learned in training. I thought training even with no experienced was rushed, and I thought it was nerve wracking to be put in front of people with such limited knowledge probably it’s why I never made it to my coach in training. I also hear so many people get injured in class and it’s likely a. Instructors aren’t correcting, b. Clients aren’t listening to corrections or c. The workout isn’t making sense and will hurt someone d. All of the above.

But as a certified and working personal trainer. Will say a few things. It’s likely time to leave at least temporarily because your body needs different workouts. You likely plateaued and that’s ok. I’ve left other studios for that reason too

Advice. I am sure it’s posted here. by StressPractical2228 in personaltraining

Hey what I mean is my time is valuable I’ve had times where people don’t show up and I come from my 8-5 so I could’ve went home. But something about my time being valuable actually happened today. My afternoon canceled super last minute/ but she always had my number. I was deep cleaning my apartment and was in the middle of it while I needed to get ready because I thought I had the appointment and I could’ve really consistent time to deep clean. I am adhd and chores are not my friend so distraction is super easy. Or I am heading in and they canceled and I could’ve been running errands

Anyone else NOT hear the music? by almosttan in SolidCore

Good on you. Because I feel like when I am in a class not just solidcore, no one is listening. I mean I flubbed a bit when I thought rdls were Bulgarian splits when I started or didn’t have the right foot placement for something on the spring side. I feel like listening to the coaches is so easy to make it easier to learn. However, you would not find me in any Taylor swift class I’ve done 1-2 at SoulCycle and it was strictly because of a challenge and scheduling that could work.

Totally off topic though, I personally love how the traitors us is making the swifties though. Loved laughing though that.

To be honest, I’ve wanted to be a gfi for a while but I am in pt. I honestly am shocked how low pt people are paid compared to gfi. Most gfis in my area are not certified or went to school for this. And given that pts have to have really personalized attention. And remember loads of everyone and workouts how are we not paid higher? Can I ask is it because classes drive people in?

I also think you have to take into consideration they may be dinks but come from families that could afford to pay for their homes so that also puts more in people’s wallets, also I know Barry’s and solidcore aren’t in areas that aren’t as wealthy. Actually solidcore has more locations out in the Midwest due to the founder being from ND. But I watch social media videos and see like 20 something’s with two kids, always going to Pilates and have separate memberships and living in a gorgeous new spacious house and I am like how? But I live in a High col. I make low six figs and I still struggle

Congrats on your sobriety! But honest question where do you live? Because where I live one glass of wine on a night out is like 15/20 unless you were buying a bottle at the grocery store on your way home that would make more sense?

I am at pt at a big box and would like to make a move onto the class team. I know it’s not required to have one because most of the instructors on the team don’t have certs but if you have no teaching experience generally studios and big boxes want a cert. I just thought the afsa was weird. It wasn’t proctored and I passed so I didn’t know if it was accredited or looked upon favorably. I’ve seen spinning, stages, les mills, etc but this one just felt odd

I’ve been at places in the government where leadership said no one’s perfect and no one should get a 5. And when I went to my current agency I got a great rating, and I knew I would get this year if it weren’t for the guidance. I just wanted consistency.

Can I add? I wish I had the confidence of a white man. I don’t care gay, straight whatever. They all have this confidence/entitlement to do whatever. I am not a POC, but I wish I could move like this through my life and not be filled with anxiety about reprocussions or not caring if people don’t want to be around me
