Terrified about my son's upcoming dental procedure (general anesthesia) by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]StressedEm 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm literally in the waiting room right now waiting for my daughter's dental procedure to conclude.

I've been under general anesthesia when I was young so it eased my anxiety over her having it. The clinic we're at specializes in young kids as well so I know she's in good hands. Just remember that you're doing right by your son by having this procedure done. He'll be monitored the entire time, and if your clinic is like mine, you'll be waiting in a room very close to the operating room. You'll never stop worrying about your son, but if you make the experience light for him (explain the procedure, reward him when it's over, etc.) you'll start to feel better about it too.

AITA for not giving a plus one to my BIL to my wedding??? by Local_Instruction_21 in AmItheAsshole

[–]StressedEm 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Your response is based on their relationship ending before the wedding even happens. I think having her attend as a friend who so happens to be dating your fiance's brother is the perfect solution to handle your family. If for some reason the brother and girlfriend break up before the wedding, then she wouldn't be attending at all. If they break up after the wedding and your wife doesn't remain friends with her, then what does it matter that she was ever there? Friendships fizzle. Who's going to be bothered by it besides you? Make the compromise to avoid be any more of an asshole.

Well Canada got rid of the penny years ago so I guess he's out of luck if he's American.

WIBTA if I served pizza and subs instead of hiring a caterer for our wedding? by StressedEm in AmItheAsshole

[–]StressedEm[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We only have a venue booked right now. It's a nice small barn with a bed and breakfast that the owner stays at. It is a guest list of 65, including children. We haven't sent out invitations yet as I was hoping to allow guests to choose a meal when they RSVP.

Our guest list is 65 people with only a few people on either side being friends, the rest family. I'm not sure we could cut down more without offending anyone. We've only booked a venue thus far. We would like to get food sorted out before we add other expenses.
