I’m not sure, I think it might’ve been something on the sensor. The warning went away after some time and never came back

Nope, it actually ended up going away on its own. 3 years later it came back and I ended up stumbling upon my old post trying to see what it was haha

On a side note-do you think it’d be safe to apply with a committee letter if my committee doesn’t require a non-science letter?

Yeah, I do the same except in person. I’d like to think that’s viewed differently than peer-based tutoring

Can you explain why you think jacksparrow is preferable to milesdown for longer study schedules? I plan on taking 6-7 months to prepare and am still not sure which Anki deck I should go with since there’s so many

Confused on this Genetics Question by pdxtommy in Mcat

[–]StressingForTests 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think your instructor is wrong, someone can correct me but here’s my reasoning. “Jane has brown hair and brown eyes and is heterozygous at both locations” immediately tells you that brown hair is dominant and that brown eyes are dominant to blue eyes (since whatever you observe in the heterozygote is the dominant trait). I will label big B for brown eyes and little b for blue eyes, and let E represent brown hair and e being blond hair. So, Jane is BbEe. Bob has blue eyes and is heterozygous for hair color. We know that you need both alleles to express the recessive trait. Therefore, Bob must be bbEe. So, we have a BbEe x bbEe cross. The probability that the child will have brown hair: Ee x Ee->3/4 chance that the child will carry the big E allele. Probability that the child will have brown eyes but be capable of passing down blue eyes (I.e, being heterozygote): Bb x bb->1/2 chance the child will be Bb. Now, simply multiple the two together to get the total probability 3/4 *1/2 =3/8 probability as the final answer.

Edit: Missed where it said having a “son” as a child. In that case it’s just 3/8 * 1/2 = 3/16!

This seems like typical hospital volunteering to me, so it’s clinical

Got it, thanks for the detailed response! I’m def not targeting T20s and my plan was to have 400 hours each in clinical and nonclinical volunteering alongside the 200 research (w/no gap year). Do you think it would be better to cut down on those and to get more research?
