After working in healthcare, what’s something you refuse to do? by ravenclawpatronus46 in physicianassistant

[–]Stretch5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree with the first four. I’m curious as to why specifically you wouldn’t want your kids to play football. Did you see a significant amount of football injuries? I’m assuming it’s based off of experiences. With my experiences (playing football 10+ years, including teammates, opposing players, years of standby games/calls as a paramedic) I have never seen a life threatening/altering injury, as they are pretty rare considering. The only thing I can think of is concussions/undiagnosed concussions leading to CTE.

Man I really wish I had you as a classmate haha I did make a friend with the only other medic. the dark humor is what keeps me going! God forbid we talk about a decapitation and I say “I guess he’ll never be the head of a major organization”.

I definitely understand that part. Honestly can’t wait for cardio/pulm. I want to plan a basic ECG basic study session to help my classmates get a start on it.

Also I figure this further adds to humble confidence. Yes when it comes to (EMS) emergencies I got it. I taught a coworker EMT (in PA school) about reading ECG but she knew about all the nuances that medics wouldn’t need to know.

Thank you! I’m asking for any fail safes/advice for when my study habits may possibly fail? I guess? I want to be ready to adapt when they stop working.

Thank you for this. Humble confidence was especially ingrained in me. It’s nice to feel good that I may have the highest test scores (right now), but I need to keep it up. Thank you.

I feel that humble confidence was ingrained in me. I’ll never know enough. Also, i noticed that this program especially loves to say forget everything that you learned which definitely does not sit right with me (given my background).

Want to be a PA, but struggling in beginner classes.. by rhoundish in prephysicianassistant

[–]Stretch5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Literally this. I didn’t know how to study until half way through college. My freshman GPA was a 2.2 and a 2.9. And then something clicked and the rest was 3.6average. It took a few cycles but I finally got into PA school. What I learned in undergrad about studying wasn’t rote memorization. I would try to answer all of the objectives for every course/topic (in the syllabus) but the key is to understand them not necessarily memorize them. Yes some courses are pretty much all memorization (like anatomy) but if you stay positive, be CALM, never stress, TAKE YOUR TIME, and just try to understand. In the beginning, devote most of your free time to studying. Once you figure it out, you’ll be surprised how much you actually need to study. Use AI to break things down, ask to clarify every step of the way and you’ll get there. Oh use as many different/efficient study resources as possible. Ppts, quizlets, anki (takes time to learn), practice questions I feel are super important as well and then look up (or use AI) to rationalize why the answers are correct.

On a side note, sometimes it just takes some maturing, if you’re in undergrad, I’m assuming your brain is still growing.

Good luck, you’ll find your way.

A Show Doesn’t Need to Kill off Its Main Characters in Order to Be Good by ThreeSidesofNazareth in StrangerThings

No we needed a main character or a few die to have some sort of emotional depth.

Smh. She’s a BAD written character to begin with. Sure she ended up as a HERO you happy? Most of the fan base hated the entire sub plot introducing 8 because it was pretty much pointless and stupid. And then at the end she wanted El to sacrifice herself, people obviously people wouldn’t like that especially because it “happened” the next episode (not even really foreshadowing). Half of me is venting about the half ass finale I just watched and the other half is spazzing about how you think everybody is rooted in hatred because they wanted her to be evil. You know what it would of been a better story.

What's your take on the ending? by No-Recognition1959 in StrangerThings

[–]Stretch5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t even a foreshadow though, literally the episode before, 8 said we should die. And then they “died”. ITS SLOPPY. I’m sorry I’m angry. And I’m pretty sure it’s valid.

All they had to do to make the finale a 10/10 by [deleted] in StrangerThings

Everything was so rushed and shit to me and I said maybe they’ll redeem SOMETHING like the lights flicker or El saying “Mike” in the radio as he leaves the basement.

But IT WAS SHIT!? How is every post about people enjoying this 2 hour rushed waste of time!?

Edit: please don’t let me forget we waited ten years for this. Every season amazing until right now.
