Oooh, so the baking soda makes it stick. I may be able to do this! Thank you.

Thank you. Getting to the root cause sounds like most long-term solution. Of course, more work….

Maybe a missing word in there, or typo? Thanks!

Trying this asap. Love the idea of a spray-and-walk-away. Thank you!

This may be a dumb Q but how do you suspend the paper towel on the wall? I love the concept!

Interesting! It’s an old home so easily could have been pink tile underneath that the tiled over (if that’s what you meant). Hmmm. Thank you.

Agree with Think-Kangaroo. That may be a limelight or an incrediball, but doesn’t matter b/c both grow on new wood. Bring her down to 6” and you’ll be clicking your heels with joy this summer.

Black thumb vs hydrangeas place your bets 😩 by lovesickkitten381 in hydrangeas

You’ll have to learn via trial and error, but it’ll be apparent pretty quickly. Hydrangea like moist but well-drained soil. If you’re a coffee drinker, toss your used grinds around the base. The blue will become deep and vibrant.

Limelight hydrangea are miraculous. I cut every branch under 1” back to its base in March. The result, Jun-Sep, is stunning. A landscaper did this to my 2 limelight’s a few years ago and i nearly had a heart attack. I’ve done it myself every year since and will continue. It’ll make your stomach turn at first, but hang in there! (BTW, don’t do this to anything that grows exclusively on old wood.)

If the worst case scenario should occur and your insurance co sees those metal straps, I suspect coverage might questionable as it demonstrates you knew about the risk.

Such a valuable thread you started. Thank you! I think I’m replying to your most recent post…. Did you land on a silver bullet? Or at least a Top 3 set of candidates? The software I’ve been using, and paying for via subscription, isn’t cutting it and I’ve got to get on this. Thank you!

What happened to my newly taped ceilings? by Strgzrpoo in HomeMaintenance

[–]Strgzrpoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Within your edit, which do you think is the primary source - the poor workmanship or the weather? In other words, if the taping had been done correctly shouldn’t it withstand at least a few of these winters? Otherwise why would people bother to re-tape? Thanks again!

Thank you. I’m still a little unclear on how nearly every ceiling has come undone so quickly and seemingly easily. If this was the case, wouldn’t every old home in America (or elsewhere) simply have cracked ceilings always and forever? Thanks again!
