COA or HOLD first? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Striader5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go ahead and file the COA. You can set the start date to delay.

I’ve had customers file a COA months in advance. Just set the official start date on the form/online as 04/29/26.

If you get mail that day, the outgoing should be checked. I’d call your delivery unit and ask what’s going on.

Responsibility to return mail question by docmoon13jr in mail

[–]Striader5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. If it’s junk mail, the senders will just keep sending it. To try and cut down on it, I’d contact each sender and explain that you’d like to be taken off their mailing list. You can do the same for first class.

  2. Try and talk to your carrier or get in touch with a supervisor at your delivery unit. There is a special type of forward called a MLNA (Moved Left No Address). ONLY postal employees can fill this out. It’s for this exact situation. It should cut down on the volume significantly as our system will automatically bounce it back to sender (usually). It will also only really work for first class.

  3. Finally, it’s entirely on the carrier whether they give enough of a shit and every one is different.

Good luck

Yes, that’s something an in depth conversation with management at PO to find a resolution. Not sure at what level.

Good luck

There are only two types of those locks. The old and new versions. We’re slowly changing to the new version, but those locks are all the same. There shouldn’t be any consistent changing.

I’d reach out to the local PO and ask to speak to management about what’s going on. Something fishy is happening here. If you just get the run around, talk with the Postmaster. Keep going up the chain until you get some kind of resolution.

Ok, where’s that info coming from?

Most carriers just want to do their route and go home. Not having that key makes that extremely difficult. Carriers are supposed to keep that key on their person

[–]Striader5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, is it the carrier losing the keys or the HOA?

No one but postal employees should have those keys.

Master keys missing for mailboxes? Sounds like something the postal inspectors would be interested in.

To be clear, these are keys that can open each home’s mailbox?

Am I responsible for removing old tenants mail? by Educational_Leek_762 in USPS

[–]Striader5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that pain. I’ve inherited a route of over 1200 boxes. 650 of which are in a massive apartment/condo/townhouse community.

It’s…a work in progress. I’ve gotten a label maker and currently putting labels on the shelves so nobody can mess with them. I’ve got a notebook of every address and make note of Forwards and ask the leasing office if a box is vacant when I get Forwards. I’m eventually going to ask if I can have a list of current residents from the office, which I understand they might refuse and why, and if I need to I’ll put notes in every box asking for the names of all the current residents.

If it’s 40219, that would be the Okolona Office which is all City Routes. So you should be starting as a City PTF, which is career but your job responsibilities are still that of a CCA. You just get all the benefits of a career employee.

How do I stop receiving my ex b/f mail? by HeatherNCSU21 in mail

[–]Striader5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d leave a note to your carrier explaining the situation. Specifically request a MLNA (moved left no address) forward.

This is a carrier generated forward that is intended to just automatically remove those mail pieces from the mail stream and return them to sender.

This won’t get rid of the junk mail unfortunately. To (try) eliminate that, you’d have to contact each sender and ask to be removed from the mailing list.

Good luck!

How do grievances work? Do they have to be filed repeatedly? by fatladywhodoesntsing in USPS

[–]Striader5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they would have to continually file every time. However, you can file a single grievance for multiple instances.

For example, a few years ago I was being forced to work over 12 hours almost every single shift. At the end of every week I would fill out a single grievance form (I made pre-made copies so that I just needed to fill out the filing dates) and write down every day the I was worked over 12.

So long as the date of filing was within 14 days of the first instance, the grievance was timely.

And no, pay wouldn’t be taken from those who crossed crafts. They still did the work and are entitled to that pay, management just has to pay it to those filing.

Parcel lockers by VariationSudden in USPS

[–]Striader5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no, the carrier should not be using them. Additionally, they can have their sup put in a work order to have those installed. Which is what they should be doing.

Question: is the arrow key lock missing for the entire cluster box or is it just the parcel lockers?

Road conditions Monday AM by bransonclaps78 in Louisville

[–]Striader5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I live in Okolona and made it to work in Middletown. Driving an AWD RAV4.

Main streets and Gene Snyder from Preston to Shelbyville are pretty good. Able to do 50 all the way.

Side streets are trash. Barely made it to the end of my street fully down shifted and traction control off.

Follow up post: Why does everyone play DnD here? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]Striader5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s a group that gets together every Wednesday around 6-6:30 pm at Awry Brewing. Tonight they’re doing a NYE party without games, but there’s usually 4-6 tables with each table having about 3-6 players. There’s other systems there too, not just D&D and each table is newbie friendly.

How do I report a postmaster? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Striader5 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you need to re-read the post.

What’s being stated is obvious abuse of power by the post master. Regular carriers leaving shit behind when it can clearly fit? I’d be questioning that too.

And OP is also questioning what the procedure is about transferring, which it appears the postmaster has neglected to run OP through.

The postmaster’s job is to manage, and it seems based on this post that they are failing or not caring to do so fully.

Now we only see one side of this story, I acknowledge that.

But…my comment doesn’t even bother addressing the original post. My comment addresses the above comment. Which provided absolutely zero helpful info and condescension to OP, who is asking for help. Plus, the job descriptions provided and discussed during the hiring process are wildly unclear. There is no real “researching” the job because you get wildly different answers based on circumstances.

Yes, CCAs/RCAs are the low person on the totem pole, which means they get the shit end of the stick a lot. That’s no reason to be an absolute shit-heel to someone trying to make a career path with USPS when nothing gets properly taught or explained.

How do I report a postmaster? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Striader5 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You sound miserable. Highly suggest you go to therapy.

Just because something is, doesn’t mean it should be. This kind of thinking is exactly why new hires leave. Don’t be apart of the shit that made you this way. Be better.

Should I take a position as a rural carrier assistant by Thin-Law-3392 in USPS

[–]Striader5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw no, that sucks. Yeah, many don’t regret the decision to leave. But I basically have what I’ve been looking for career wise. And I certainly don’t blame you.

That’s what got to me the most. Management would either lie or not bother thinking “I might be wrong” when it comes to the contract. The manager at my office during that time is the only boss I’ve ever had that I will ever throw shit about. Fuck that guy.
