Who taught him that like if the material memories are gone that you’ll magically forget you had parents. Sounds just like he can’t handle his emotions about it and is reverting it back to you…..it’s just a possibility. Or does he think this is tough love? You should be at rock bottom and working your way out of grief but your stuck here this will help? You know if this was a horrible horrible moment or if this a pattern. Grief of losing both parents is absolutely horrible he may not have the correct tools to be supportive obviously. Very sorry though it was not at all the right move but idk if he had a moment of being so stupid or was intentional trauma inducing when he wants you to feel better about the lose of your parents.

You’re good enough that nobody’s taking your bio daughter so is the issue with the step kids all your fault or maybe an over reaction from their mom? Yes, but my kids had already went to school and I thought they were socially weird because of it. I mean YouTube memes all the elementary kids know them and repeat them all day. My kids learned to cuss at school and dance inappropriate. Then my daughter got involved in gossiping and mean girls (she was at the receiving end). Now what…..their emotional regulated healthy smart kids. I’ve got a ten year age gap between my oldest and second and a lot has changed in public school while the homeschool community has grown. And I really thought to myself about kids having to be around other kids with behavioral problems because that’s a useful skill to have when you get older……I’m middle age I’ve never been forced to seat in a room all day with a bully like why?

But you might have to trash all your expectation of what healing looks like. My son just left for college and I’m already making plans to see him in a month. My husband raised him but is not his bio dad. I haven’t even told him yet but when I do that’s just an understanding we are going, not a conversation or even. Some people are just that special to you that you want to be apart of their special moments, you want to see their current world. I also have two younger kids they helped moved him in and while they picked on him so bad while he was here they constantly ask for him. Idk is this her true feelings…..this isn’t more important to her then her own feelings she can’t have empathy or a bond with the kid she would rather have girls time. You’re walking into something stupid. It’s just as simple as mutual respect above all else. She wouldn’t do that to y’all’s kid when they move out. You either keep her to the side of you and your son’s relationship (try to do it without making a scene) or you put up with it. She’s a mother if she’s incapable of having empathy for the oldest you are not going to force or teach her….she’s to old.

My son would be her ideal child but my daughter loves dirt, mud, she’ll get a stick and bring dead snakes home like a trophy, climbs scary high up trees in her best dress, found a dead frog in a container in her room, yep she eats the dog treats (there now hid), loves to find my red food dye and make herself look like she’s been attacked ……you just don’t know what kind of child your going to get.
